For those of you who live in the L.A./O.C./S.D./Riverside area, there is going to be an IC meeting from 2:00 to 4:00 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach on Sunday, October 19th, from 2:00 to 4:00. I'm planning on going.
I pick up a lot of good information and it's nice to have a chance to meet people face to face that can relate to what I'm going through. The support makes things more bearable.
If you are interested in going, shoot me a PM and I'll give you the details.

Re: IC Support Meeting in Orange County
I'm sorry that nobody was interested in attending the meeting. It was actually pretty good. I didn't pick up anything new really, but it was nice to sit with people that can relate to you. There were about nine people at the meeting. We had a nice discussion about the different things that people are doing to keep their symptoms under control. Apparently there is a topical cream you can get through a doctor here composed of Elavil, and a couple of other things, that has worked very well for some people. I may look into it.
I decided to go back on my Elavil in the evenings because I'm growing weary of the "gotta-go all the time" feeling. It really is enough to drive you slowly crazy.
I think that we should define the way we use the words "urgency" "frequency."
I define urgency as the feeling of needing to go to the bathroom NOW. I can't wait. If I don't go, I'll piss myself.
I define frequency as the feeling of needing to to go to the bathroom. I go and feel O.K. again, but 1/2 hour later I feel like going again.
The "gotta go all the time" feeling is different. I feel like going go the bathroom. I wait at least two hours minimum. Then I go. Seconds later I feel like I have to use the bathroom again. I wait at least two hours minimum. Then I go. It goes on like this all day. To me this is different than urgency and frequency.

Re: IC Support Meeting in Orange County
I think you nailed it spot on. I think men with CP/CPPS who have frequency issues, has it like the way you explained it. Simply put, when the prostate is inflamed for what ever reason, it sits right under the bladder so, those crossed nerves causes that sensation of having to still pass urine after you empty your bladder. I have tested this by taking Aleve (naproxen) early in the morning after a meal and not having frequency issues because of the inflammation calming down in my prostate. Just my opinion...

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.
