As some people posted before, quercetin for me also works quite spotty. 500mg work for 1.5h up to 2h only. I guess quercetin is metabolized quite fast and has a short half life.
A little bit at random I have tried rutin now. Rutin is a derivative of quercetin, namely quercetin bound to sugar. Other names for rutin are rutoside and quercetin-3-rutinoside.
I have experienced, at the same level of symptoms I only need 3 times 100mg rutin per day compared to 8 up to 10 times 500mg quercetin per day. Rutin is slowly absorbed in the gut an therefore provides a stable level for a long time. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutin)
Rutin has the side effect, it raises blood pressure. At the level of 100mg this effect is quite small and for me it disappeared after 1 week.
Did anybody else try rutin? What ist your experience?
