Hot baths

Post by elitynski »

Since Hot Baths can be part of the protocol. Is there anything you do to kick up the relaxation factor - any kind of music, candles, additives to the water...

Just curious - I know we're not women, but wondering if anyone has things that really help.

Right now I just use a candle and the radio.

I mentioned this before but am happy to mention it again. I am not sure if this will be of help. I unscrewed the overflow cover and inverted it. That gives me about 4 more inches of water. If you want to get really crazy, cover it completely. I sit on a folded up towel. I use the same towel and just leave it there overnight. It is cold if you have not let it sit in the warm water for very long. I turn on full blast hot water until full. I let it sit until it cools, this will warm the towel so its not cold. I have thought of getting something that measures temperature and beeps when ready, I see many of these online for about $25 I think. Because you are not submerging your heart/core you can go hotter than you could otherwise. I don't know the temperature I use but I am sure its hotter than a jacuzzi but not hot enough to burn me. There are times when I have to get out because it is too hot, so I have time to think about it. I have been in a jacuzzi that was reading 120 degrees (too hot), and it takes about 2 minutes before you have to get out. I kind of think I "pimped my bath tub."

Eric, the radio on its own is pretty feeble. A bunch of guys have posted here how they were helped by the CDs by Dr. Jeffrey D. Thompson (see link to Amazon store in my signature). They cost about $12 ea.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Try adding Epsom salts to the water to make it more relaxing. Jacuzzi's help relax you more although I find them annoying for more than 10 min. Also, turn the lights down (not out). Staring at a candle in dim light can help relax you.

Best suggestion though is to practice meditation. You could do some deep breathing - in through the nose, out through the mouth.

I recommend 2 hot baths a day where possible also when the house is empty and silent and water as deep as possible. Practise relaxing the pelvic floor this way and any urine leaks won't matter
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me
