Electronic muscles massager

Post by calguy »

Anyone try using electronic muscle massager to help relax abs. The device has little pads which you place around area where muscles are tight and it sends pulse into the muscle. My chiropractor used one on my back and it helped a lot. I was thinking I could use this on my lower abs as it might penetrate deep into the muscles that are so tight? What do you think??
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

It actually sends electrical pulses into the muscles is the best way I can explain it.

Thats it and as usual already have an answer! Do you think it would do any harm around lower abs? Being so close to bladder muscles? I am sure my lower abs are causing frequency which only happens when they get tight. Going to see PT Thursday(first time in 1 month) and use hers to see if it helps. I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this and found some success.

I'm not sure what the answer to this one is. Perhaps someone else can chime in here? These machines seem to be designed to exercise the muscles, but the comments in the reviews posted by people who own them make me think people are using it to massage and relax the muscles, which seems to be the opposite ...

The sales blurb claims that it "Massages and relaxes muscles to release tension and stress", and the reviews state that the unit relieves muscle spasms, at least in the back, so theoretically it could help a lot.

For what it's worth, if this device uses electrical stimulation, I have had e-stim rectally administered by my physical therapist. I would doubt (in my layman's opinion) that it would do any harm to your bladder.

I can't say whether the e-stim made any dramatic difference for me, but I only had it once and for a short period. I can tell you that it was definitely acting on my muscles, though. When she ramped up the current, I could feel my pelvic floor pull inward around the probe and then relax as the current fatigued it.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!

Age: 26 Onset Age: 17 Symptoms: Shooting, nerve-like pains throughout the penis, which abruptly hit and leave. Testicular pain, perineum pain, burning/irritative urination, extended pain after ejaculation. Occasionally, some allodynia or ache in the coccyx/sacrum/thigh/buttocks/legs. Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. Tests/Prior Treatments: Too many antibiotics to count, multiple urine tests (all normal), testicular ultrasound (normal), bladder and renal ultrasound (normal), lumbar and pelvic MRI with and w/o contrast (revealed disk problems), Elavil 25mg (caused retention), Flomax 0.4mg.

I've had extremely tense muscles in my stomach for a while now due to a lot of stress and yesterday I went to friend who had something called Abtronic
http://www.fitnessinfomercialreview.com ... s/abtronic Anyway I tested it for about 10 minutes and I can say that a lot of tension in my muscles disappeared. I dunno if it does what it is supposed to(strengthen the muscle) but it sure made them relax. I will buy one for sure :icon6:
