Alternatives to Xanax

Post by elitynski »

I was taking a small amount of Xanax before bed (0.25 mg) for a number of nights and I noticed that my urinary symptoms had calmed down considerably.

If the Xanax is truly helping, but is also a short-term drug, are there any good alternatives to Xanax that might give the same benefit (calming the nerves). My URO just gave me some Flomax and I'm not sure if that will help in the same way (I know it takes about 3 months).

Valium is a benzo too. Both act in the same way although Valium has a longer half life.
Good to go!

I personally prefer Klonopin. It takes longer to kick in, but it keeps the edge off way longer than Xanax. I would be careful about taking them every day to sleep. They are super addictive and hard to come off of. I only pop a benzo when I'm ready to lose it.

I would suggest taking something more natural like Valerian Root, Melatonin, Magnesium, GABA and other similar things to get to sleep. My key to getting a good nights rest is to take a warm/hot bath right before I'm ready to go to bed and then down a glass of warm milk. Puts me out every time.
