Oxygenation

Post by Viking »

I have come to realize over the years that correct breathing is my main weapon for controlling the CPPS. Back in the old days, and even sometimes to this day, I catch myself holding my breath, especially at times where I really concentrate. It is almost as if I forget to breathe. According to research, about 80% of people in the U.S. breathe shallowly through the chest. This results in an oxygen deprivation to the muscles and tissue and also prevents proper removal of toxins. Deep abdominal (diaphragmatic) breathing enhances the oxygen supply and has proved to be very beneficial for a lot of ailments, including raising energy levels.

I pay close attention to my breathing every day now and this has probably been the most important thing that has got me so far in my recovery. Check for example out the International Breath Institute for some tips on full wave breathing- http://www.internationalbreathinstitute.com/

Keep breathing and stay positive :agree:

Personally, I would like to try hyperbaric treatment(s).

Or I would like to hear from CPPSers who has tried it.

I went to the above mentioned website, but can't find information on their Full Wave Breathing. They mention a seminar, but the dates are for October 2007. Did you buy a book from them that teaches you this?

I found that using a 30 minute vibrating alarm like that described in A HEADACHE IN THE PELVIS lets me check my pelvic tension thru the workday. The breath holding and tensing while concentrating was something I had to unlearn too. The breath constriction seems to tense the entire abdomen and diaphragm in addition to the pelvic floor.

How much this may affect things in addition to a Programmer/IT or accountant or such sitting for 50+ hours a week while trying to make stressful deadlines may be a big contributor to problems for some.
Age:43 | Onset Age:36 | Symptoms: First urinary and backside, golf ball feeling, now ok (no heavy exercise) . Major onset seemed to be with heavy coughing spell , felt "tearing" or nerve pain in rectum/prostate. | Helped By:Hot showers, sleep.Worsened By: Type A obsessiveness ... Stressing, what-if thinking, weights.
Not a doctor. -

The usual... anxiety prone programmer (my case), accountant, lawyer or self employed sitting 50 hrs/week combined with compulsively exercising on a bike, weights or running to compensate for stress. Also aka "graduate student syndrome" New email sigma556@hotmail

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

You can download for free a pdf with instructions as well as a 50 page booklet. Go to the bottom of the page where it says 21st century healing- download a free copy.

I thought hyperbaric treatment was a joke until I heard of one pudendal nerve patient deriving benefit from it.
http://www.bayareahyperbarics.com/ in bay area CA. They claim relief from chronic pain. Require 20 sittings for 2 hours to see if it makes a difference. The logic is : Trigger points = lack of blood flow AND oxygen. With hyperbaric treatment - there should be more oxygen reaching those areas. But the fallacy probabaly is that for some reason oxygen may reach other areas but not the muscles causing pain
. Approx $4K. At $200 a session PT isn't cheap either.
