Internal Trigger Point Area

Post by Sandcrab »

I clearly have sensitive areas to the right and left of my prostate internally. The area between the anus and the prostate, is this muscle or ligaments? This area is also sore on me, but I'm confused how to treat this area. I've read the trigger point section of AHIP many times, and have also looked at Webslave's pelvic floor diagrams on a graph that he sometimes posts. Still unclear about this area. Also concerned about treatment in this area due to the urethra running through there.

If areas are sore, but don't recreate symptoms, is it worth treating them? I still battle frequent urination, but can't find a trigger point that refers this symptom. Does an area have to refer pain or create a symptom to truly be a trigger point?

That's a difficult question to answer, because that area is dense with small adjacent and overlapping structures, so only someone who is skilled and has his/her finger on the area could tell you accurately.

I see you are located on the West Coast. Why not make an appointment with Tim Sawyer? Or better yet, attend one of the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol's sessions?

Sandcrab:

For your frequent urination, you should look into the RSA breathing. David Wise also mentions this in AHIP as a way of controlling the frequent urination.

I've heavily considered the Stanford clinic, but work and finanaces make it not possible at the moment. I am in Southern California which is about 8 hour drive to the Stanford Clinic. I assume Tim Sawyer is located in Northern California as well. Does Tim take appointments outside of the Standford clinic's? That would be a better option for right now.

Yes, I think he does, and if he helps you it may give you the extra impetus to attend the full clinic.
Sawyer, Tim, RPT, 259 University Ave., Los Gatos, CA 95030. I think the number is 408-237-7365.
Please confirm if that is the right number.

Viking:

Where did you learn to do RSA Breathing? Is there a book you recommend, or did they teach you at the Stanford Clinic? I did a quick search on yahoo, but didn't come up with much.

Webslave:

Thank you for the info.

There is a section on RSA breathing in A HEADACHE IN THE PELVIS

I wanted to confirm the # you gave me for Tim Sawyer is correct. It took him awhile to get back to me, but that's still his correct #.

Thanks
