I just wanted everyone to know that I have been able to resume my normal lifestyle because of the advice from this forum. I can not begin to thank everyone that shared their stories and offered great advice.
To understand my situation, I will describe my ordeal. I am 32 years old and have a type A personality and can become stressed easily. In the past, I handled stress by working out and running. In late November 2007 I had the constant urge to urinate. I contacted my family doctor who prescribed antibiotics for two weeks with no result. My urine culture showed no signs of bacteria. I then went to a urologist and was diagnosed with acute prostatitis in December 2007 and prescribed Cipro. I had instant relief the first two weeks due to the anti-inflammatory effects of the antibiotics but the symptoms quickly returned when my body adjusted. The urologist then scheduled a cystoscopy and found nothing wrong but prescribed doxycycline for a month. I had some relief, but the urge to urinate continued. I was then diagnosed with chronic prostatitis. I talked to the urologist, and he wanted to change my antibiotic, but I became frustrated and found this forum. I soon came to understand that I did not suffer from chronic bacterial prostatitis. I even asked my urologist if I ever had tested positive for bacteria, and he stated that I did not. However, he wanted to pump me full of antibiotics which had many side effects.
I took the advice from this forum and read the book Headache in the Pelvis and started taking Quercetin. Once I understood my situation, I took the advice from the book and had instant results. I made a conscious effort to relax my pelvic muscles and control my stress. I still have symptoms that come and go, but it's directly related to stress and can be controlled. I stopped taking antibiotics two months ago against the advice of my urologist and listened to the advice of this forum. I know have resumed my normal lifestyle and can handle the returning symptoms with stress management. I even started decreasing my dosage of any accredited quercetin product from two a day to one day with great results. Thanks again for everyone that contributes to this forum. I have saved thousands of dollars on medical expenses and have peace of mind.
