Cipro then Doxycyclin..still no relief!

Post by A50 »

I went thru a course of 28 days of Cipro at 500 mg twice per day prescribed by my family doctor with no symptom relief at all. I then seen a Urologist who then prescribed my Doxycyclin at 100mg twice per day for 30 days, and still no relief. I've came to a self conclusion that my prostatitis conditon is not bacterial and I'm stopping all antibiotic regimens.

It sounds like you have Pelvic pain, rather than prostatitis.

I Agree - I would advise you to now go and get yourself checked for pelvic floor muscle spasm.
This is not Medical advice - Consult your Doctor!

Age:39. Age at onset:31. Symptoms prior to treatment: Golf ball in rectum, severe urinary frequency (2-3x/hr; 5-10x/night); weak stream; painful ejaculation; coccygeal pain; tip of penis pain; general pelvic pain on left; testicular pain; supra-pubic pain. Current | Symptoms: Urinary frequency 1x every 2-3 hrs and 1-2 x a night; mild pelvic pain on left hand side (all symptoms still improving!)
Helped by: Trigger point release; avoiding exercise; pelvic floor relaxation; Neurontin decreased bladder sensitivity somewhat. Worsened by: Exercise; frequent ejaculation; ibuprofen irritates bladder. Made no difference: Diet; biofeedback; quercetin; Steroid anti-inflammatories; Elavil.

****UPDATE*** I am now able to sit again at work all day, and can perform moderate aerobic exersise again for the first time in 8 years!!!

How does one get checked for that?

How does one get checked for that pevlic floor condition mentioned above? What does the doc do? I just found this site and am exploring it. Like the rest of you, I've had my share of anti-biotics (I have taken 2 rounds of Cipro, and am now on Doxycycline...with minimal relief).

I am scared to death to go anywhere for fear of having a flare up. It sucks. I can't take a shit, ejaculate, or pee without pain or the fear of pain striking. Mostly, my CP hits the anal area, and reverberates throughout. Yuk.

Anyway, Ill be perusing this site for more answers. But what is that test?

thx
