I went on Lexapro and only lasted 3 days! I could barely pee and did not sleep for two nights more anxious than ever. It did seem to help my IBS pain however.
Was wondering if the negative effect on my flow would diminish if I stayed on them. My GP is going to give me a hard time tomorrow as he wanted me to try it for at least one month.

SSRIs and SNaRIs have the same effect on me with regards to urinary dysfunction and sleep.
I've never bothered to stay on either for long enough to see if there is an improvement; there are so many antidepressants out there that may fit better, I wouldn't be shackled by or afraid of what your doctor says.

Re: Lexapro side effects
I was on Lexapro for a couple of years for anxiety and it helped some. Course, I got nailed with a major depressive episode in the last six months and have been really messed up due to that - so my doc moved me onto Zoloft. Still seeing how the Zoloft is doing...
Age: 31; age at onset: 18; symptoms: perineum pain, joint pain, pain in back, pain on left or right testicle, very bad fatigue, malaise, frequent/urgent urination (good stream though), weak/muted orgasms with symptoms getting worse after orgasm, anxiety, depression, 3 surgeries to repair bad strictures (urethrotomy and urethroplasties).

Re: Lexapro side effects
Lexapro helped me quite a bit but should not be seen as a long term solution nor a cure. I am happy to say I am treating my problem with PT now and living without the help of meds of any kind.
Age: 49 | Onset Age: 36 Initial | Symptoms: Pain in perineum and rectum, urinary symptoms (esp. frequency). Current | Symptoms: Pain in perineum/rectum when sitting, burning in feet. | Helped By: sleep, yoga type stretches, relaxing, walking, yard work!, jogging, positive thinking, changing life outlook. No help: antibiotics, alpha blockers | Worsened By: Sitting too long, diet: unidentified food triggers, obsessing over it.
