What to tell girlfriend/fiance now

Post by calguy »

Wow, that thread about genetic link is not good news for us who want to have kids. I was wondering about this but no-one in my family had any of these kind of problems. I think this would be something you would have to tell your potential partner. I basically told her that I have been seeing a lot of improvement and should get even better with time and sticking to what I'm doing. I told her about this site and that for most guys it is at its worst the first 6 months to year. Then start to see improvement around 2 year mark. She is ok with this and supports me. I hope I was accurate with this assessment and believe in being totally honest with her. This might be a huge problem as I would not have child if there is a genetic link. I would just end the blood line now! So this is throws major problem in my relationship. Thanks for posting thread though as I would rather know!
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

There is only a small chance that your child will have the same problem. My son does not have it, and I doubt he ever will. But there is a risk, of course, and as yet we cannot say how big it really is. If it was a huge risk we'd know about it already, because everyone here would be talking about how their parent had it too.

There are much better reasons not to have children, such as global warming and peak oil.

I don't think either of my two boys will get this but I'll certainly try and teach them to do relaxation work at some point as anxiety runs in my family and I think the health benefits of relaxation work are excellent.
Not medical advice: Read my progress to date : Read about my W-A clinic visit

Age: 54 CPPS: 20 Yrs Recovery Status: 95% Symptoms: Pain around perineum Makes Worse: Tension, sitting Makes Better: Stretching, triggerpoint therapy, relaxation

Yep, my son is on anti-anxiety medication. But he is not a pelvis-tenser ... yet.

Surely this disease will be much more open and treatment more widespread and efficient also with better meds in 20 years time etc going on the fact that it has moved faster in the last 5 years than the previous 100 . I'm sure the next generation have it easier. We are the guinea pigs in this for their future
Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me

I have always said that CP/CPPS does not mean it should stop you from living a normal life. When it comes to having children, that has been the main inspiration to getting well and of course like all genetic traits, we will have to make sure my girls are well informed about relaxation and stress management. I already have my 5 year old do deep breathing at night and do stretches with me on our yoga mat. It's a great way of spending time together with the bennifit of teaching relaxation. This is a life skill both my girls can keep with them for their lives on this Earth.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Don't let it stop you. If anything, you are going to be able to better raise a child by teaching him or her something that should be taught in our public school systems, which is how to manage stress, and more specifically, how to do so without clenching their pelvic muscles.

If you teach them this early on, it should prevent them from becoming the tight knotted up pretzels that we have all become.
Age:29 | Onset Age: 26 | Symptoms: Extreme Urination Hesitancy, Weak Stream, Shooting Muscle Spasms, Constipation. | Helped By: Ultrasound, Ocean Water, PT, Stool Softeners. | Worsened By: Alcohol, Sleeping, Dairy Products.

kids

Post by calguy »

I dont have anyone in family with this but do have anxiety and mental disorders. So could be prone to it I guess. I agree Webslave there are better reasons not to have kids and you should see some of the videos I have on Gas and our future, scary! On a serious note I have always been hesitant to have kids because of my family history and this may just add to my doubts about having kids. I dont think it is fair to bring a child into this word and have to face such challenges. I think it may be a little too much to have to teach kids relaxation techniques at such a young age. Not knocking anyone's decisions to do it or have kids but for me another red flag. Have a great Xmas and happy new year!
