I am a 59 year old male that 5 months ago stated to experience the painfull prostatitis. Regardless of all my urine tests being negative for bacteria, my urologist precribed Septra-Bactrim (100 pills, one-a-day) and 6 refills. The Urologist told me there was nothing else that he could do for me. To come back to see him in 6 months !
I am scare of this drug after reading about it ! Please help me if you have any knowledge of using this drug and the side effects !
Has anyone been prescribed Septra-Bactrim ???

If no bacteria were found, it is absurd to prescribe a long course of sulphonamide antibiotics (which are associated with some nasty side effects, BTW). How old is your urologist? He seems out of touch with the latest thinking in this area. He is not much use to you anymore, in all likelihood.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Welcome, sorry you had to have this problem though. There aren't as many of us older guys here. What are your symptoms?
I am not a doctor too!
Age 64, sudden onset 5/06 during bout of flu, colitis, lung and liver problems. Pain in penis, then moved to rectum. No urinary symptoms. Use Lyrica, Elavil, paxil, Xanax, morphine, vicodin, relaxation, pads for sitting, 100+ PT sessions. Sensitive to gluten, milk protein, soy. I have CFS, anxiety, GERD, Barrett's, colitis, kidney stones, one of which referred pain to penis.

I am experiencing the groin, tip of penis and low pelvic pain. The tip of the penis and the sack gets very red. Can not sit down very long as it feels like like my testicles are rubbing on sand paper.Clay wrote:Welcome, sorry you had to have this problem though. There aren't as many of us older guys here. I took Bactrim, along with many others, years ago when this started, it didn't matter, mine is all muscular. After 3-4 tests I should have realized this sooner.
