Strange that they classify chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome as nociceptive pain.
Age: 38 | Onset Age: 27 | Symptoms: scrotal pain, perineal pain, pubic pain, lower abdominal pain, sometimes urgency, | Helped By: sometimes excercising | Worsened By: found no real triggers

It's not discouraging; it simply doesn't discuss all the strategies for fixing this pain. A lot of pain is maintained by feedback and by constantly treading certain neural pathways. If you manage to stop the body treading these pathways (eg by quieting the mind and pelvic nerves, and resolving trigger points), they become overgrown again, just like a pathway through grasslands becomes overgrown if unused.
As for nociceptive pain, the article states "Some chronic pain syndromes involve both nociceptive and neuropathic pain". chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is one of those, I believe. The "chronic pelvic pain" they name there is the female version, not chronic pelvic pain syndrome.

Well for me, the pain really hit me yesterday, whether is because its now very cold outside or because I had sex several times on the weekend, but my god, I've never had pain like this in my life. Been doing quite well recently as well. Its now up to a 5 / 10 I would say, I'm very nearly reaching for painkillers and feel sick from the pain which is a constant dull pain, which gets worse if I move about. Trying to sit still at my desk slouched in my chair at the moment.
didn't sleep last night, it kept me awake all night. I had a hot bath before all the pain started, and tried some skin rolling on my stomach and in this area, and some internal work (not sure if I was doing right thing but was pressing either side in the direction of my penis, levator ani is it?)
This thing seems to be getting worse not better over time, it started in March with just frequency, today sitting here I have horrible pain lke a burning at the base of my penis where the prostate would be which radiates into my shaft, my testicles and down my legs. Its not so much a stabbing pain at the moment, but, well, its hard to describe, its a horrible pain though. Standing for more than a minute is hard to do.
I'm off to NY next month for 3 days, the long flight and walking around in the cold over there is now a terrifying thought for me given how I feel yesterday and today
I've also been continuing to take the any accredited quercetin product now upped to 2 a day, morning and night, could perhaps they also be contributing to an increase in symptoms? I'm trying to concentrate on saying that the pain will go away and get better, but its hard! And to top it off, I've started seeing a lovely girl who I really like, she likes me, yet dont see how I can continue to see her and function "normally" when I have this to deal with....

Just some things to consider because I have been there. My pain was burning/fire type nerve pain in my perineum for months.
Consider getting some scripts for some benzos for now if you have not already. Like valium or Xanax. You have to break the pain/anxiety/pain/anxiety cycle. This is just temporary. I know you don't want to take any meds but you have to calm the nerves down. You are in big time pelvic myoneuropathy and it can be eased by taking them carefully per your doctor's advise. Really get into moment to moment relaxation all through out the day to drop those pelvic muscles. You are classic catastrophizing. Oh man I have been there and you can break it up starting today.
Take a break from sex for a few weeks, I know you have a new Lady, you already showed her what your made of by banging like bunnies this past weekend. So now it's time to seal the deal and show her the other side by refraining and get emotional and play hurt if you will. Don't tell her yet about your condition until you know where this relationship is going if you have, fine just don't talk about it any more for now. Leave that sh*t for here, that's what we are here for. Sorry, but Woman need the strong yet emotional available man that can hold the fort down.Work through this. It's different when it's your Wife and you have kids and all that, you know what I mean. This is new and building, the game is on and your ahead.
Don't know where you are at with the PT situation but you need that pelvic floor palpitated to see where all of this is coming from. Use the book and try your self if you have to to hit those points around the prostate carefully and those levators, oh those levators.
Look into a thera seat for your long plane flight. It's expensive, like 95.00$ for padding, but it's low profile not like a toilet seat that everyone will look at
If you work on a computer, set it up so you stand like I'm doing right now. Just tell people you have back and pelvis problems. Which is true
Most important is to calm everything down with hot baths and deep breathing and benzos for now so you can re-generate and start recovery today. I'm not a doctor, just a friend who knows what your going through.
Cheers, Carl...

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Thanks Carl
I'm trying not to think the worst, I am trying to keep a positive head. Just I have a lot of positive things coming my way at the moment, such as a new job, new lady, etc. and I am so worried this is going to screw it all up for me. As for the pain, i've been accepting it today, not fighting it. Popped to the loo and did some stretches and sat down and did some deep breathing and relaxing for a few mins which seemed to help.
No sex for a few weeks will be hard. Maybe once a week instead of four times in one night perhaps? lol. I havent taken any painkillers yet, I dont want to give into this, or lower my pain threshold.
PT wise, I will need to go and see Bill up in Scotland at some point when I get a bit more cash. Like I said, I was fine last night until I started probing when I was in the bath, and maybe I have upset something... I did some skin rolling which hurt a little bit, and was pressing inside my rectum. Not really sure what I was feeling or looking for, but trying to press on some of the muscles shown in the HITP book. Personally I dont think my fingers are long enough, and those slim g-spot wand things I have seen people use on here are not available in the UK for some stupid reason.
For the flight, I'm hoping this feeling will have gone. If not, I may need to walk up and down the plane quite often, or sit on my side or something.... can't see myself spending $95 at the moment can't afford it. I've been standing most of the day, or sitting on my foot at my desk, I went for a walk lunchtime which seemed to help a bit.
Tonight now as I write this its not too bad, maybe down to a 4, but still there and constant. About to have a hot bath and relax some more. As for the benzo's, hmmm, will have to see about them, will speak to my GP and ask his advice, personally I'm not into tablets and stuff, but if I have to take them to help get through this ruddy thing then so be it. Thanks again Carl, I really dont know what some people would do on here if it were not for you and Webslave (plus others!!)

Four times in one nite will definitely rev up the pelvis. That's too much even for me in my prime. If I orgasm twice in a short period I can be in for a long nite of pain. Hot baths is the way to go and relax, it will get better. I know, when the pain is really bad it feels like it will never go away, but it does if you take care of it.

Meds after sex
I remember someone saying they take something after sex to help calm everything down? I know I can't stop the sex but can't do it like I used. Looking for something to calm everything down, took a couple Cipro I had left over and it really helped(know its not good but all I had). Just need something to work like Cipro!
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

Last night I was in complete agony. Yet -I found a cure to the pain which cured it all night. It was a bottle of red wine. With each glass I could feel the pain easing and by the last glass I had absolutely no pain at all. Its coming back again this morning slowly, but at least it proved to me this is muscular. Alcohol is obviously loosening the muscles and relaxing the nerves.
I think the answer to curing this thing is just staying constantly drunk! lol.
Was thinking about this flare up, I was fine until I started probing inside the night before all this started, I was pressing the levator muscles and perhaps its possible that me actually pressing down on them inside caused this flare up, as I have read they cause pain in the exact areas I am experiencing at present. Trouble is, I'm too afraid to press them again!!!

I say you hit the magic spot. You have to go in there and gently release those muscles that have been shortened from unknowingly clenching the pelvis over a long period of time from stress and anxiety or what ever. You have to take two steps back to get one step ahead.
Red wine and vodka don't seem to bother me as well and also help relax everything as well for me. But if you over do it, it can in the long run irritate. Moderation brother...

I would no longer take any Cipro. You don't have an infection. If anything carefully take some Aleve (naproxen) after sex and relax the pelvis and don't do the porn star thrust. Let her get on top and do the work.
Stretch and take a hot bath after sex.
You have to get that pelvic floor checked out when you find someone. I think Latte gave you a number

Interesting question Sleeper.Sleeper Service wrote:Carl, is it mainly beer that causes you isues? It seems to be OK for me although you never know.
Still having problems giving up coffee although my symptoms do seem to be gradually improving anyway.
I stay cold away from beer. The last time I had one, I got instant irritation and frequency. Not sure if there was a connection but after that I said no more....
Now every time I have had a vodka tonic...I dont seem to have any discomfort. I know this because I have lets say had one on a Saturday night and then not have one for a week or more with no increase in my symptoms
