Hey fellas,
Those of you that get relief from Ativan or Valium may want to check out Phenibut powder, its legal, but displays many of the same effects.
I bought 30 grams of it, very cheap...and I take this after my workouts and hit a 30 min relaxation session, symptoms are almost non existent with this protocol.....The downside is a tolerance develops after straight use, so I just use if after internal work or workouts only.
My uro stopped my Ativan prescription even though it was light, so I started to do some research. This works for me...but please do your own research and use it responsibily--I do not endorse this product I only share what I have experienced for two weeks.
Here is a link if you want to look into it further. I also bought the piracetam to take in conjunction which is a nootropic to improve focus and memory. They seem to work great in conjunction helping me get really deep into relaxation.
Dr Wise does not advocate Ativan or the like for relaxation, but the combo of working out, phenibut, piracetam and relaxation with stretching has been a good combo these past two weeks.

I should also note the powder tastes like complete dog shit, but I am used to just putting powders like creatine directly in my mouth, taking a swig and swallowing, some of you may not. There is a pill form, but much more expensive....

Forgot to add literature on piracetam...

I will surely keep you guys up to date on this...but first indications are good.
Good Luck,

I thought Id report back that this stuff really does work wonders for me, much better than Ativan.
I am back to working out full strength with VERY minimal issues afterwards when taking Phenibut and Piracetam.
Those of you with anxiety and muscle tension really should look into these substances.
My Best,
Ss

I should also state, that it is my belief that this will work best for those that have been at this for a while and have an understanding of how to relax the pelvic floor, have had internal work performed and perform relaxation. This is by no means a cure all for the beginner.

I also have tried L-theanine. It works very well to calm nerves and there are no reported side effects. It's in green tea and helps put brain waves in the alpha waves vs. beta waves. Alpha waves are more consistent to relaxation. Where beta waves are more related to stress etc... I'm not a doctor but do a search on it.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Re: Phenibut Powder
Just want to thank Scooby for the phenibut recommendation. It really helps break the spasm cycle and calm me down. Plus i sleep really good on it. Side effects aren't too bad either. I think its almost better than Xanax.
Age:30 | Onset Age:27 Symptoms: Golfball sensation, cramping in the rectum, inflamed/tight levator ani, occasional frequent urination, mild constipation, occasional burning testicular pain, IBS. Helped By: Exercise, Stretching (Yoga) specifically a deep lunge or pidgeon, running, beer, alcohol, relaxing, deep breathing Worsened By: Sitting for long periods (even w/ doughnut cushion), Stress, tight pants, caffeine, coffee in particular Tests: Pelvic MRI, Colonoscopy, Anal Monometry, STD, Pudendal Nerve Block. Botox into obturator internis, levator ani, and piriformis. Meds Xanax, Phenibut (The phenibut works awesome, better than the Xanax in my opinion)

Re: Phenibut Powder
Just found some in local health store called Mothers here in california. I tried it last night and had some trouble sleeping but can feel the power of this stuff. I will only use it when I feel tight or workout like scoobs but I think this may be a big help to me recover and still be active. Will post later and let everyone know how it works for me. Do feel a little groggy this morning though, man powerful stuff.
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!
