Full Financial Disclosure

Post by webslave »

WHO PAYS FOR THIS WEBSITE?

You do, mainly, and I used to get support from David Wise and a quercetin supplier. I spend an average of about 2 hours a day on this site, made up of:
  • monitoring discussions and answering questions.
  • forum backups weekly
  • upgrade the forum software 2 or 3 times a year (which can take many hours because of the modifications I have installed)
  • maintain the main website
  • answer emails
  • monitor the Internet for research news and other news concerning this subject.
I calculate that I get paid somewhat less than US minimum wage for these tasks. The site is definitely not making me "rich" and I have had a struggle keeping it going and justifying its existence to my wife, who would prefer I gave my time to my family, since I have long been symptom-free. In fact, my wife has asked me to give up running this website on numerous occasions (it's a bone of contention between us). When this changes, and she wins the argument, I will freeze these forums and put them all into permanent read-only mode for posterity. Sometimes it feels like I need to do this as soon as I can. I don't enjoy running this place anymore.

YOU MAKE PEANUTS, SO WHY BOTHER?

I mainly keep the site alive because of the mischievous misinformation on the internet about this condition. I remember how I was misled and struggled to find any truth about chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome years ago, and how the Internet was more of a hindrance than a help back then. Bad guys lurk behind every corner trying to scam money off sufferers, most uros don't know their arses from their elbows when it comes to this disorder, and the most prominent websites dealing with the condition are run by non-sufferers with very dubious motives. When these unfortunate conditions change, I'll feel able to move on and perhaps close this site.

ARE YOUR MODERATORS PAID?

No, when I have them, they do not. Which is why they are truly good guys deserving your greatest respect for helping you selflessly. Without their help I could not manage to continue this site at all.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

My deepest respect for you Mark. I know you know that from my interactions with you and I truly owe you my life for this site. I have always felt that you deserve to be paid well for keeping this site alive. I just wish some major pharmaceuticals would pay you to do this work and really put the funds into this. I know that is highly unlikely but for what it's worth, even though I'm not a moderator, I feel indebted to always try and help a guy out because of those who helped me.

I have said this before, and still feel this way that along with the original fee to join, there should be a yearly charge that all of us should pay to help cover your effort. $15.00 an hour is just not fair for what you have done for me. I think it's time again for me to visit the when have we last donated area.

Cheers...Carl...

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Please hang in there with it. I can understand how your wife feels. My husband thinks I am crazy checking in every now and then now I am so much better. But it helped me follow a much better path..and if at a minimum it encourages people to do the less invasive thing first then it is a HUGE SUCCESS.
CPP since 2005. Prior to CPP always overly fit and active. I am female. Had two natural births: singleton 1998 and twins 2000. 2002 emergency back surgery - L5S1 herniation. Then recurring UTIs. Usual antibiotic overload. Then constant debilitating burning bladder and reaction to many foods. Australian Pain Clinic 2007. Turning point was Dec 2009 Attended Wise Clinic in Santa Rosa USA.
Was helped by strict diet but now eating normally after years of restricted diet - wonderful. Helped by: stretching, relaxation, yoga, trigger point, warm baths. Worsened by: stress, sitting, abdominal or glute exercises and salicylates
Medication: Now off all pain clinic meds no more Endone or Elavil only Lyrica 50 mg as Dec 2010 just reherniated L5S1disc and had discectomy. Its taken years but I feel I am over it.

I hope that you get compensated for all the hard work, research and time you spend helping people with what is one of the most violent and obscure conditions a person can get. This condition is rare enough and it is not something one would like to discuss publicly or openly with others. It takes a lot to manage and run this site, especially with a conditon that I'm sure you want to forget about and get on with your life. The truth is that you are definitely one of the most informed about this condition and your help is beyond compare in a world of Uro's and Surgeons that just see dollar signs when we come to them.

This site has brought back a human aspect into treating this condition, people come here to get help, to help others from all over the world, it is an exemplary model of how patients and sufferers become their own doctors. We are listened to, helped and cured and encouraged by this site, the people on it and its content. Long may it last.
Thanks dearly

I just want to say how much this site has literally saved my life. Without this site I would have no hope in this devastating condition. I was in a state of deep deep depression before I got to this site. I felt like I was in a living nightmare and didn't know how to get out. Being sick and not having a clue what's wrong with you is the worst feeling in the world, much worse than just being sick.

If I can do anything to help with this site please let me know. Thanks again, webslave!
Age: 29 Onset Age: 29 (6-5-11)
Symptoms: Ache/sore in the perineum, inflamed/golf ball in perineum. Painful erections. Pain after ejaculation and during sex. Slight increase in urination but nothing severe (this use to be much worse and has gotten better).
Helped By: Hot baths, Sleep/laying down, exercise, relaxing, klonopin/valium/Ativan, having fun
Worsened By: sex/ejaculation/arousal/porn, sitting, stress/anxiety, rubbing/touching prostate
My story This whole thing started immediately following an extensive porn/masturbation weekend event, basically 5 4hour long masturbation sessions over a 3 day weekend, constantly holding off my orgasm by tensing PC muscle. I've also been masturbating and having sex like a porn star for the past 8 years now, constantly holding off the ejaculation by tensing PC muscle....so bad!! My CPPS has gotten slightly better after stopping porn/masturbating amongst other things and I'm now left with the main symptom listed above. I'm also a recovering porn addict.

Thanks, webslave, for running this wonderful, lifesaving site. I'm in the middle of a horrible, one month long flare right now and sometimes the only relief I get all day is browsing the success stories and reading other people's questions. Whether you know it or not, your work on this site is *literally* saving lives, and we all owe you a huge debt of thanks.
Age: 35 Onset Age: 31
Symptoms: An almost constant feeling of the need to urinate all the time. Pain in the penis, at the tip, and "behind" the penis inside the pelvis. Also urethral pain after ejaculation. No rectal pain or symptoms at all.
Helped By: Hot baths, Dr. Wise's relaxation tapes. Internal trigger point work every two days with the Wise-Anderson Protocol wand.
Worsened By: Ejaculation (changes the pain to a burning sensation most times) Alcohol increases urinary frequency greatly. Falling "off the wagon" and not following the Wise-Anderson Protocol protocol.
