Could I be suffering from bacterial/fungal infection?

Post by cravingcure »

Hello - I am new to this forum - I see there are are a lot of experts who know quite a bit about prostatitis here and I was wondering if someone could help me out..

I am a 27 yr old man suffering from various chronic urinary tract symptoms for the past 3 yrs. I developed slight pain above the right testicle when I was 24 I am 90% sure that the pain was in my ureter, at least it felt like that). There was burning sensation while urinating. As the pain kept recurring, I made frequent visits to the doctor. He checked my testicles for cancer and said that the shape of testicles was normal. After ultrasound, cystoscopy, urine exam, tests for Chlamydia, and blood test, nothing was found to be wrong with me.

After 6 months, the pain worsened and it spread to the entire groin region. I went back to the doctor; he said that it might be Hernia. He wanted me to stop exercising and asked me to come back if I have further problems. Right after I saw the doctor, the pain became unbearable. Sometime after that episode, pain developed above my left testicle (this time again, the feeling was like my ureter was rupturing). The pain worsened for a while and after that, my symptoms became pretty stable.

At my request, the university doctor finally referred me to an urologist after 10 months. After a preliminary look at my test results, the Uro said that I might be suffering from prostatitis. He gave my a course of doxycyclin, which didn't do very much for me. Shortly after that, I was prescribed an alpha blocker, which also didn't do much for me. After that I was prescribed zithromax which seemed to help a lot (I thought I was completely cured for a few days!).. the uro working on me also does prostate drainage once a week since the time I started taking antibiotics. I dont know if the drainage caused my symptoms to come back, but it did seem like that (I could be totally wrong). I was also prescribed ofloxacin, clavulin, and microbid. These did nothing for me. So, I asked him to prescribe zithromax again, but it didn't do much for me the second time. Right now, I am taking clarithromycin, which also doesnt seem to do anything.

My symptoms now are:

1. Burning sensation just before starting to urinate and during first half of the time I am urinating (its almost always like that),

2. Inability to have total control of urination (most of the times), and

3. Slight burning + pain in urethra (or around that area) while urinating.

4. Knee pain from time to time - pain increases especially if I am due for urination for a long time.

5. Variable periods of fatigue which have no pattern.

6. I have pain which kind of moves in the groin region - mostly it in the top part of the groin region below the navel and in the right side of groin, but never in testicles or in perineum or in rectum. I have felt the golf ball sensation only a couple of times in the last 3 yrs.

7. Sometime after drainage, I feel like some kind of infection is spreading from the top corners of the groin region. These do not seem like classical symptoms of prostatitis I see in the forum and I am confused
.

The uro that does the drainage says that the top part of my prostate feels hard (he says the infection/inflammation is centered there) and there are calcium deposits along with pus cells in my prostatic fluid.

I feel like I am an unusual case - I can't make up mind if I have some kind of infection or not, but it does seem so..

has anyone felt the same kind of symptoms as me? Can anyone please shed some light on my condition?

Thanks a lot for your help and I wish everyone good luck with recovery.
