Am I having a flair up?
Wed night I went out and had some beers just to test the waters and see how it would effect me. Friday my frequent urination kicked in and it had been under control for almost 2 weeks. Does it usually take a day or 2 to feel the effects. My doctor also gave me a few pills of Lexapro(anti anxiety/depression meds) to try to help relax. I took those thursday night so maybe that caused my frequent urination to kick in. Not going to take those again made me feel sick and there really strong.
Age 32, onset 32 Onset Aug 07- frequency was main problem in the beginning-really bad. Now 1 to 2x per night when frequency flairs up. Sore and tight lower abdominal muscles. Occasional burning after bowel movement and full feeling. What helps: Healthy diet(this is huge for me) Started drinking super greens supplament and almost going totally vegetarian to get body more alkaline, starting Prosta-Q, quercetin/zinc tablet in morning helped frequency problem I believe. Massaging abs and doing stretches helps calm down frequency when it is acting up. Wine or vodka after long day. Flexeral and melatonin at night. Swimming and light weights. .5 of Elavil every other day helps with frequency and healing process. Trying to stay positive and not stressing over this!

Both things could have caused the problem, which is why you should never try more than one thing at a time. (Just BTW, I don't think alcohol and SSRIs are supposed to be mixed, especially in any quantity).
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Beer may be a trigger for you. Lay off for a while and see if it moderates.
Longer term you may not have to go teetotal though - other guys have found that although beer irritates them vodka, wine or other booze is fine.
Plus, as webslave says, SSRIs and booze are a bit of a no-no.

Age 56: Onset 2006 and bouts on and off since then. See posts for details.

didn't take them together beer on wednesday and pill on thursday, I know better than that. Was wondering how long it takes for you guys to tell if you are having a flare to something. Next day, 2 days.... ow long do your flares usually last?

With me, I used to have to eat/drink something several times, or for several days, before I noticed symptoms. That may be because I became more and more symptom-free as time passed. I suspect that if you are pretty inflamed down there then you could react much faster. But I remember that even when things were bad for me, a couple of days delay was not unusual, which makes pinpointing the culprits difficult.
