Internal Therapy - Bill Taylor -update

Post by thebattler »

Dear All

I thought I would drop a quick note to all of you in the UK who are considering going to Edinburgh to see Bill. I went last Friday and was very impressed.

I read very carefully all the notes/comments made about Bill before I went to see him. He was and is exactly how many of you described him. He was encouraging, enthusiastic, understanding and obviously very knowledgeable about chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome as he has over the last decade seen more and more chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferers who he continues to help.

However I was not paying a good deal of money to be "propped up psychologically" I wanted to feel improvement physically and feel like I was progressing. So hear are my results:

This was my first internal session and it is not as painful at all having someone stick a finger up your Bum. Neither did I find it remotely embarrassing, the desire to get better is much more pressing than the concern that I may get an erection or shit myself on the table as he fiddles around (yes it has happened I was told!).

I had over 2 hours of internal work done in periods of 15 mins as I was beginning to tighten up after being prodded for more than 15 mins at a time. some people like the full on 2 hrs but my body was saying no. Bill found numerous trigger points around the muscles in my prostate and down the sides inside my rectum. When palpatated they replicated my symptoms and it was very painful but never unbearable. In fact like many of you we would probably be willing to suffer on average more pain than a none chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome sufferer if we thought it would cure us. Once my session was finished I was able to sit in a taxi and get the flight back to Birmingham England and drive my car from the airport home to Sutton Coldfield with a pain score that had improved by 50%. In the evening I was in a fair bit of pain as my muscles/body settled down.

The next day and the next day after that I was still 50% better and sat down all day at my beloved Birmingham City (UK football team) and sat at my dinner table for a dinner party still 50% better. I can't tell you how good it felt and frustrating at the same time that I have to wait a month until I see him again.

As was to be expected my pain levels have gone back to where they were previously as my muscles try to tense up and shorten into the positions that they were previously. This I understand is standard as outlined in the HIP. Maybe next time I will be pain free for longer following treatment.

Bill has sent me a wand through the post which arrives today which I am going to use with the help of my wife. Bill has told me to call him when it arrives and he will talk me through how to use it over the phone. Bill has text me nearly every day to catch up on my progress and is always available to talk. I think everyone agrees who has been to see him that he is a special man who provides so much support to his patients. I would recommend him to anyone.

The proof as they say is in the pudding and I am pushing on with my relaxation, sitting on a tennis ball for my perineum and doing certain stretches. I did find that some stretches caused my symptoms to flare up so I have stopped doing them.

This condition makes you scared to hope, it makes you frightened to open your eyes and dare to dream that we can have a life without pain. Following my session with Bill I closed my eyes and pictured myself writing the first line of my last note on this website exclaiming that I was pain free. Although my pain has returned I feel like I know and have felt enough to know that over time I may get to write that note.

Thats good news, keep it up.

One thing though from your post, just because a stretch causes a flare that is not reason to stop it, it might actually mean that is the most important stretch for you to be doing. Its probably hitting the muscles that are tight. So I would do your internal work then do that same stretch. Why does internal work cause flares, because we hit the tight and tensed muscle, same thing.

Just something to think about.

Ss

Glad that you had a good session

As scooby says though - for me any treatment that causes a flare is a very positive thing as it shows you're probably hitting the spot!

Please keep us updated on progress.

Richard.

Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me
