Tim does have his own clinic at which he could do SP type physio. However, ask him if he thinks just the physio alone will be effective enough to help most chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome suffers. You might be suprised at his answer.

(For all of those who cannot wait to find out, the answer is no. PS, which sucks for me, cause physio is easy, relaxing is hard work!!!!)

i can do the relaxation no problem now, been doing it twice a day for nearly a yr...i can get so deep when I come out of it I would say i`m 99% pain free, its when I start moving around again within a VERY short time the pain comes back (sphinchter starts to lock up and pelvic floor)...

i know how to do stretches again been doing them for past yr between 1hr and 1.30hrs easily a day ...

been doing TP work for 9/10 months....

i`m sure my problem is TP related....i could be wrong...either way i`m taking no chances I want tim to check me over seeing as he`s meant to be the best in the world

I have to agree with that 100%. I'm getting better at relaxing. I find autogenic relaxation works better for me because I still don't know how to empty my thoughts. Infact, what is it to empty your thoughts :?:

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

It'll be interesting to see if autogenic relaxation (AT) is more effective for chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome than progressive relaxation. Takes about 3-6 mos to get good at AT assuming you do it 2x per day.

Yeah, the autogenic works better fro me (plus it's free off the internet). As for emptying my thoughts I've only been able to do that with a dozen bottles of Stella Artois. ;)

Once you get past the 6 standard exercises in AT over several months, you move on to the more advanced exercises where you focus on seeing colors as you meditate. Looking forward to that. Probably very cool.

I have been experimenting with autogenic traning after reading about it on the forum. I also prefer it to paradoxical relaxation as I struggle to empty my mind of thoughts.

Autogenic training is highly recommended for chronic pain in general so hopefully I'll see the results soon.

I'm another one that is finding AT better - infact the 10 min free one from the wikipedia site is superb.

MB - re the 6 standard exercises you mention - were did you get those from?

Richard.

Get the book "Autogenic Training: A Mind-Body Approach to the Treatment of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Syndrome" by Micah R. Sadigh, PhD. You can find this at Amazon or other online bookseller. The 2nd half of the book has an extensive program on how to get going with AT including a full description of the exercises.
