Success Stories

Post by garyholc »

The success stories board is looking a bit depressing with no major updates since March, which is a bit disheartening. Come on, hasnt anyone got any good news to post on there?

The problem is that most people don't post success stories. Not because they don't get better - they do - but because when they get better they tend to disappear off back into normality. Faceinthecrowd and DJ Smitty are a couple of examples although there are more.

I have improved up to 95% better from my onset. The reason why I don't post in success is because I feel no need. I'm getting better and I'm here to help other Men going through this. This is a life long commitment to taking better care of my self and that alone is a success.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Hey Sleeper, I remember you joined the board about the same time I did.

I'm about 98% better about all the time now. When I get a chance I'll post my story but I really don't think about this on a daily basis anymore.

I tried to post under success stories but it was limited to postings by Moderators only.

This could be a reason that no success stories are being posted.

We move them there if they are thorough and interesting. Someone posting a short note saying that they are cured or 95% better won't get moved there. If you take the time to make a full posting, it'll get moved there.

Success Stories

Post by elitynski »

That was really good to know - do you think you could put a sticky at the top of the forum that lets people to know to READ FIRST before they attempt to post. This way they would know to post their success story in the general area.

I do agree you really want TRUE success stories and not just the I'm getting better but I'm not there yet stories.

That would be super-helpful. Thanks.

BuYa! Got moved on the success forum. Now that is worth celebrating!

Many people here would kill for 50% better, and I have only had this for about 6 years or so. I have met people with this for 20 years or more.

My friend. Maybe you dont want to hear this, but for many of us 50% better is success. Its not a pretty thought for some, but sometimes you need to accept where you are. Even if that is 0%. You dont need to like it, you dont need to give in, you just need to accept it. I know it sounds like a load of --word cencored here-- but that his been the advice given to me, and my advice being passed on.

(sound fimilar to anyone?)

PS Also in the same vien. I need to be able to accept 50%. :) (and I do!)

I think it depends. Why accept something until you can't get any better?

mach5 - you mention that you have about a 50% improvement after recently undergoing SP. Wold you not expect further improvements?

As for me, I'm about 60% better but want more. That's just me.

Nobody gets better overnight. You need to look for a steady improvement over time. I continued to improve for ten years! But I never used any trigger point treatments, just the rest and relaxation and anxiety-avoidance approach, with dietary changes. It may have been faster if I'd treated it properly.

I didn't say you had to think things were never going to get better :-D

Yes, it would be nice to be 55% percent better. But I am glad I am where I am too. And that, in itself, is success.

If it helps I've gone 6 weeks now virtually pain free and thats in a new stressful job. Time and doing the irght things has been the key I believe as has dealing with anxiety and consistent M2M relaxation
Age: 29 | Onset Age: 26 | Symptoms: initially severe burning throughout pelvis - much better; muscles spasms all over region, back pain, chronic IBS (much better) | Helped By: Psychotherapy, SP stretches, swimming, accepting the condition (understanding there is treatment); stress/anxiety management; possibly basic quercetin; valerian root, vit B & calc & magn supplements; gluten avoidance & especially dealing with chronic constipation. | Worsened By: stress / anxiety, too much sex; repressed emotions; personality goodist traits. 80% better

In a way I feel as though I'm being a bit unfair to the board in that I've been feeling a lot better lately but feel reporting a concrete success is too premature.

I know, I said concrete since my ultimate goal is not looking at partial recovery but total recovery which may not be realistic but I believe one day I will be totally fine.

I will say that more I practice the SP, the more I'm starting to believe it works.
Age:37 | Onset Age: 35 | Symptoms: pain in testicles that comes and goes that also switches sides-trying to find a pattern as to "why" this happens/Rectal Burn at the 6 O'clock position at my anus which tends to flare around the periphery of my anus typically after defication but no perineum pain-no "golf ball" pain. Pain in testicles worsens as I sit but not always...Pain is not always present but depresses me. Pain used to be at a very high level but has subsided in time to a low level but has not gone away. Pain used to flare after sex but not as much as before although it still like playing russian roulette./
/Lack of SleepHelped By: I haven't found anything that has helped to my knowledge. Tried many many sessions of PT, accupuncture and chiropractic care but still have not found steady relief that takes me back to a pre CPPS state.

Nice work, Rufus. The key is posting when you feel comfortable doing so, so no need to rush.
