Hey all,
As I've mentioned here before, my doctor -- Dr. Moldwin, of Long Island Jewish Hospital, who specializes in this problem -- had given me some uroxatrol plus Elavil to help with my frequency/urgency problem. This had been fairly effective -- except for when I haver to sit for long periods (such as when I take long airplane trips) or drive (for even fairly short distances). He recommends that I switch from uroxatrol to Flomax. But I have heard here that uroxatrol work better.
Another question: I know Flomax comes in 2 dosage strengths, 0.4 mg and 0.8 mg. Anyone know the effectiveness of taking the 0.4 mg twice a day? Because, when I'm having a bad day, my problem is waiting until dinner, when I take the Uroxatrol. (I may try moving my uroxatrol intake to earlier in the day).
Also (last question), since I'm much improved unless I sit -- is it possible that my having avoided sitting so often has weakened my back muscles? My quadratus lumborum muscle in my back seems to be a main trigger point. I was thinking of doing yoga or water aerobics, but I don't want to risk making things tighter there.

My understanding is Flomax can give you retrograde ejaculation. Uroxatrol still gave me reduced amounts of ejaculation, and fatigue.
There is only one dosage for uroxatrol I think. I have tried taking it at lunch one time. Not recomended!!! I was waisted. I have been off alpha blockers now for over 2 months now. I would stick to dinner time and continue the stretching and relaxation and internal work to hit those tight muscles around the prostate. I'm not a doctor.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.
