Urodynamic and nerve problems

Post by MBey »

Can nerve problems be excluded as cause for urinary urge/frequency problems when the urodynamic examination was negative?

I'm wondering if not compressions in the spinal cord or especially in the lumbar vertebra (e.g. L5/SI) or sacrailiac joint could be the reason for problems in the urinary tract.

What do you think?

Has anybody experiences with osteopathy to check?

No. The only thing that can be ruled out is abnormally active motor nerves. As a test of motor symptoms (muscle contraction), urodynamics cannot tell you how your sensory system is functioning.

Possible, but I doubt it. Especially if you have other symptoms of nerve compression, it might be worth getting it checked out to see if a nerve is being compressed; however, usually these kinds of tests turn out normal.
Started: Spring 2003; high urinary frequency and pain associated with bladder filling; urinary hesitancy; pubic/prostate/perineal discomfort; Helped by: trigger point therapy, Afrin nasal spray, Cymbalta, hydrocodone (small doses), distraction. Makes worse: sex.

I was at a pain specialist today at he recommended to try a nerve blockade of the hypogastric nerve by an injection of a local anesthetic.

Thus, it could be possible to decrease the urinary urge for about 2-4 hours.

If so, a therapy by radio frequencies on that nerve could be an opionion to decrease the urinary frequency in the long run.

What do you think - any experiences, opinions?

Please ignore my post as I didn't read your other post first. I agree with Carld that Elvila works good for frequency but in my case it was at 50mg and over that I found the best level for relief. I not longer get up every 2 hours to urinate.
