Has God, Faith, and Prayer Helped you Through this

Post by elitynski »

I was wondering if any of you gentlemen have a perspective related to the role God, Prayer, and Faith have played while you are in the midst of dealing with this condition?

God is an extremely important part of my life and I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone else could share anything related to how their faith has encouraged or sustained them while dealing with this?

I'm still very early in this process but I'm looking for ways to continue to stay positive and deal with this in a healthy way.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Job must have had chronic prostatitis......

Post by striperking »

Chronic prostatitis has been, and continues to be, the greatest physical and spiritual challenge of my life. Christianity teaches that Christ is very close to us in our suffering, yet sometimes I must admit God seems a millions miles away!!!! I keep praying, though, every morning and night and all through the day.
Age: 42. Onset: 41. | Symptoms: pubic pain, lower back pain, pressure in perineum. Helped by: hot baths. Worsened by: sitting, driving.

How should I say this with out causing an uproar. I respect all spiritual beliefs and religions, but this should go in the off topic area.

You can pray all you want and ask God for guidence, there is a place for that. I'm sure the people in Sudan are asking as well....Other then the United Nations stepping in to help stop the genocide if they can mobilize in time....

The God box isn't going to make you better, but a possitive out look will help. So if praying gives you mental strength and following the many useful protocols this website offers, then you will improve.

If you are going to just pray everyday and not do anything else to overcome this, then you may be in for a rude awakening. I hope I'm wrong, but my faith in a higher power stepping in and curring CP/CPPS is unlikely. Sorry if this is not a helpful post, but prayer and all that stuff belongs in a different forum.....Good luck

Regards, Carl..

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

I moved this to the off topic discussion section, feel free to continue the discussion there.

I'm not really a religious man, but I have caught myself bartering with a higher power a time or two regarding this crap, but all in all I rely on myself and things in this world to get me better and keep my spirits up.

My wife is much more spiritual and says that she doesnt react as badly to things as I do because she has faith she will be taken care of. To each there own I say.

The design of the whole interlinked bladder/prostate/testicles system is surely conclusive proof that there is a God.

And that God is female.

And really, really pissed off about men.

With respect, I dont think that is what the original poster was saying. Everyone has their own support and belief systems, their own world view, and we each bring these things to bear on whatever problems we are facing.

Elitynski was - I think - just asking if anyone significantly was supported or inspired by Christian beliefs. Personally, I'm not.

I agree that the thread may have a limited interest to most people seeking help on this site. It's definitely off-topic, in other words.

God, Faith, and Prayer

Post by BigStoneMax »

I have had chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome for approximately eight years and other urinary problems before that.

I can say that God has helped me survive this. He has always been there even when I was in the deepest valley of depression. With out my faith I doubt that I would be a live.

I'm a christian and I believe that in part GOD has used this as a wake up call and a tool to hone my character. I will gain from all this one day and nobody could tell me otherwise. However, I also agree that praying and not taking an active approach to self treatment is a very risk game to play. Did GOD cast sent chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome to me one night from the heavens? Possibly not - Nor do I claim to know how GOD operates. Is he helping me through this and has chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome brought me closer to GOD, spirituality and what really matters in life? ABSOLUTELY[/b]

P.S. I'm a little surprised on a forum that has the most posters from the US (population wise that makes sense) that there are not more people who do use their faith and religion to support them. Its a long time since I went to University but I do read a lot about the Christian World and curent affairs and I thought that religion, particularly Christianity, played a big role still in a large percentage of american's lives? Maybe there are a lot of posters to whom this may apply but they simply havent added to this post?

I just happened to stumble upon this thread and wanted to add my two cents worth.

As much as I dislike my CPPS, tinnitis, anxiety and all the rest, one thing I have learned is how I have contributed to my problems by how I have been living my life and interacted with the world around me. I have much to blame for my current state of affairs.

What I have learned and continue to learn, is the importance of making real, tangible, major life changes, not fad diet level changes, but deep, cleansing life changes. I'm attempting to live a life of virtue, character and integrity; things that in the past I've done when it has suited my purposes or I've cut corners with, using shallow self-justifications for my actions or inactions.

I have humbled myself before God and with my family, friends, and co-workers, and am working hard on being caring, kind and compassionate, not when it suits me, but as a way of living my life. It's difficult sometimes, but the more I do it, the more natural it feels. I see and feel the changes. For the first time in years I have actually felt a sense of peace; a feeling I previously associated with a few drinks or a satisfying orgasm.

This has nothing to do with being a Jesus Freak or a Bible Thumper, this just has to do with living life the way it should be led (my personal perspective, no one elses) to feel real peace. I finally am starting to see what really is important and there is no going back anymore.

No, we're too busy rescuing the wounded to be cowering and praying. :)

Of course both analogies are false, aren't they?

I you choose to believe in nothing, then I guess you'd be correct.

The relationship between healing and spirituality

Post by HuckFinn »

The following essay (see link below) is the best one I've read on the relationship between healing and spirituality. It was written by a surgeon who specializes in treating the most untreatable of patients--those with leprosy--and who is also a Christian.
