Question about this symptom

Post by sam5935 »

Hello!

For the last 8-10 months, my worst symptom by far has been lower back pain. I have had almost no urinary symptoms and little testicular pain. I have been on vacation for the past 2 weeks and have been doing relaxation techniques, etc. This has made my back pain almost disappear, which leads me to believe that indeed, anxiety is the main culprit to my back pain.

However, a few days ago, I did some light jogging, which I hadn't done in a long time. Almost immediately, I had the first testicular pain I've had in a long time. The pain originates about 3 inches below my navel and about an inch to the left of my inguinal area. It hurts in a straight line from that spot in a straight line through my right testicle. The whole area feels heavy, like I'm dragging the testicle.

Is it me, or does this sound like an injury to you? My doctor says he doesn't think I have a hernia, but is it possible there is a slight herniation he can't detect manually?

To me, this just sounds like a strain or herniation. However, maybe others here would disagree and say that it could also be CPPS.

I have an appointment with Tim Sawyer next week, but I would really love to hear from all of you. Should I push for an MRI? Do you think this is an injury? Thank you so much!

I was convinced at various times that I had a hernia too. Don't worry about it, you almost certainly do not. chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (pelvic myoneuropathy) is a great mimic of other conditions.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

My doctor wrote back to me and said that it's possible that there is a mild herniation, but not to worry about it?! I wouldn't worry about it if it didn't feel like my testicle is being squeezed!

So, doing a different type of exercise started this? Man, I feel like it's one step forward, two steps back. So, should I just stop this form of working out entirely? It just seems like a great coincidence that I haven't had this pain in ten months and within days of running, it flares up. Do you think Tim Sawyer will be able to help me sort this out? Thanks!

There should be a lump if you have a hernia, but if you are overweight that may be difficult to detect.

I would bet money that the problem you are having is in the muscles-- my guess would be in the lower abdominals or psoas muscles and\or anterior pelvic muscles.

I used to have so many different pain problems in my body, none could be helped by doctor's, all the problems were healed by Trigger point massage and stress reduction.

Here are some examples:

Pelvic Pain - Doctors called this "Prostatitis"
Big time low back pain - Doctor's called this "slipped Disc"
Right Elbow Pain - Doctor's called this "Tendonitis"
Forearm Pain - Doctor's called this "Carpal Tunnel"
Calf Pain - Doctors called this "Shin Splints"
Stomach Pain - Doctors called this "Gastritis"
Bottom of Foot Pain - Doctors called this "Plantar Fascitis"

All of these things were fixed by doing Trigger point massage. When are the Doctors ever going to learn ! For me, whenever I hear a diagnosis with an "itis" at the end, I would like to call it BullShititis.

Get the Claire Davies book and you will most likely pinpoint and help the problem.

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

I have read and re-read the Claire Davies' book and have never been able to re-create the testicular pain. However, when I massage the muscle in my inner thigh, the testicle pain goes away temporarily, but comes back as soon as I'm sitting for a while or have to walk for a while. I had a bad muscle pull in this area about 6 years ago that never healed so I guess that this could be the cause, but the testicle pain didn't start until about 4 years after the injury. I really don't know where the pain is originating from. Thanks for the advice, I'll keep trying!

That seems to be the nature of the beast, though... you have to keep working at it, slowly persuading the muscle to return to its normal state.

If massage of the inner thigh takes the pain away I would be doing this at my desk during the day religiously, then stretching it periodically through out the day. Sounds like you may be on to something.

And the fact it took 4 yrs to cause teste pain does not mean it couldnt be the inner thigh injury. It takes years for the pelvic muscles to finally elicit pain in us like it does, therefore, 4 yrs after an injury that never properly healed sounds about right to me.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to see Tim Sawyer on Wednesday. I also just got a new job (stress!) with a large pay raise so it looks as though I may be able to afford to go to Sebastopol over Christmas if I decide it's necessary. I'll report back after I see Tim. As always, any other thoughts are most welcome.

Great move; I wish I was closer so Tim could continue to treat me, I know I would be further along if I could see him once a month and then treat myself.

My Best,
