Hi,
I've been suffering from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome for 8 years now - although I've only been aware of what it is for around 3 years.
I can trace it back to when I changed career...from a job where I was mostly on my feet all the time, to one where I was mostly sat down. This is when I started to get the pain in my testes and what appeared to be my prostate.
I got thoroughly checked over at the time and the doctor put it down to muscle strain (used to play squash).
Anyway, it disappeared after a couple of months but kept coming back...with more frequency and severity as time went on.
It reached a peak in 2003 - a year where I had to close my business, file for bankruptcy and split up with my long term partner. And it hasn't really disappeared since then.
It didn't take Sherlock Holmes to realise that it was probably stress related.
After doing some research a few years ago I stumbled across something that the Headache in the Pelvis author had wrote...exchanged a few emails with him...bought the book...felt better that other people were having the same issues...but then didn't do much about it.
However, around a month ago it suddenly moved to another level...the pain is much more intense and there is a burning sensation along the urethra and a heightened sensitivity to the tip of my penis. This is not only uncomfortable throughout the day, but is having a severely detrimental affect on my sex life - a bit frustrating as I'm newly married to a fit young lady 15 years my junior!
"Be careful what you wish for"...one of my friends tells me ;o)
Anyway, joking aside, this is no longer tolerable.
So what I want to find out is are there any practitioners in the UK...PTs or otherwise...that anyone can recommend to get me started on sorting this out?
Many thanks
BTW I'm based in Cheshire
Where to find UK practitioners that can help?

Thanks for that - can't believe there's only 1 such person in the UK.
Anyway, today things have taken a change for the worse in that I've now got blood in my urine.
So off to see the doc this afternoon - maybe something other than chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome - or is this also a symptom?

any pus?
how do you know it's blood? Is it THAT bloody? Usually you can't tell if urine has blood just by looking at it unless you have a serious infection, STD or other non chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome malfunction.
Seems to me like you probably have an STD or bacterial infection masking in addition to your CPPS. I'd suggest you go to a GP first if you can just to check the possibility of an STD or infection.

Yes achamasi, it's that bloody - at least this morning it was - since then it's not been visible.
However, just been to the docs and it went off the colour chart on her swab.
So as you say - a nasty infection that is causing a flare up in the CPPS.
Thanks for the additional info webslave.
We should probably put an and to this thread as it's going off-topic somewhat.
