I was just reading through this article
http://www.massagetoday.com/mpacms/mt/a ... p?id=13515
and the part about the Thiele massage caught my eye.
If you do a search on the forum on this technique, only 2 hits show up although it looks exactly likes the internal massage that's being promoted in the SP.
David Wise says this about it:
'While we appreciate the efficacy of Feldenkrais, cranio-sacral manipulation, the Alexander method, internal Thiele massage and other modalities for many kinds of problems, we generally do not use or recommend these methods for the pelvic pain we treat.'
What is the difference between the different techniques then?
Thiele massage?

David Wise wrote:Hi Mark,
There is a major difference between Thiele massage and the Trigger Point
Release of the Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol that can make the difference between
success and failure of the treatment of pelvic pain. In my view, Thiele
massage is good to try, useful to some degree in certain muscles, but an
inadequate technique for freeing chronically contracted and trigger pointed
pelvic floor. I will try to write something about this and get back to you.
My best,
David
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

thx. webslave! I'm curious to see what the follow-up is.
I'm trying the internal self-treatment myself and it's a bit tricky at first but after a while you get better in finding the internal muscles, so any tips on improving the technique are useful. Mind you, I don't think you should try it without the guidance of a good PT.
