Regarding back pain

Post by sam5935 »

As you know if you've read my posts, my symptoms vary quite a bit from everyone else's. This has led me to some confusion as to the root cause of my condition. so I'm just trying to get an idea of what others are dealing with. Thanks!

I have dealt with severe back pain for years but it isn't a symptom of my CPPS/CP. The only thing that may be in common is the golfball feeling in the rectum which is not one of the severe pains I get from CPPS/CP.

Though I would like to know how many have had back pain before they they had CPPS/CP symptoms.

Yes, at this point my back pain is by far my worst symptom. It moves about, but is usually right where my left buttock meets my back, about an inch to the left of the spine. It is diffuse and as the day goes on, starts to spread around my hip girdle and down into my thighs. Sitting down helps it tremendously, as does stretching. However, even if I do these, within minutes of standing, the pain returns. Also, when I stand, that area of my body is just clenched tight and I have to willfully relax it, but can only do this when concentrating, so as soon as I stop thinking about it, I clench up again. Sometimes it's gone for weeks at a time.

My doctor says that it's stress and anxiety and should be treated with the same principle as CPPS, meaning relaxation, anxiety reducing measures and the such. He doesn't think any sort of PT or massage is really going to stop it.

From what I've gathered. quite a few here have back pain, but it's not their most troublesome symptom. I suspect that it's not related to chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome per say, as in trouble in the pelvic region, but rather another by-product of a physiological system in distress due to chronic stress and anxiety. Or rather, a pathological nervous RESPONSE to chronic stress and anxiety.
