It's amazing the things you just don't think about sometimes. I've been getting some great relief from trigger point therapy and stretching, but my abdominals seem to keep raising, which in turn, raises my pelvis. A couple of days ago I was just standing there thinking about other areas of my body and how they might be related, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks. For the past year, I've been walking around/sitting around/laying around with my shoulders jacked up probably higher than the top of my head. Since realizing this, I've been dropping them, letting them rest. I raised my seat at my computer desk so I'm not having to reach up to type on my keyboard. The difference this has made on my abdominals and pelvic floor being able to relax is absolutely remarkable!
Just thought I'd share this as it's something that's pretty easy to ignore, but I have found it of huge importance.

yeah, makes perfect sense, any areas you habitually tense, especially pulling up on muscles seems like it would make its way down to the abs and then unforetunately, to the pelvic floor.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Guys, about tensed abs and trigger points in the abs, where in the abs are you most tender?
I don´t find any tender areas in my belly, only on my pubic bone, extremly tender there. I suppose that´s where the abs connect to the pubic crest. I´ve been trying to massage this area myself, and I have found lumps in the tissue there, might this be a trigger point?

Yes, could definitely be a trigger point.
My trouble area is under the rib cage where the diaphragm rests which makes all the sense in the world given my holding pattern of the stomach by sucking in and up to inflate the lungs and the chest cavity. I thought it was good posture, not so, lol.
Anyways, I can feel a large tense sore strip of muscle that I can actually massage out in a few minutes time, it usually comes back by the end of the day though.
Good Luck,
Ss

During my PT the therapist has found me entire body to be suffering from stress and tension. Now that at last my pelvis seems to be getting better she is working on other areas and so far has found problems in my left foot, left leg, by back, my neck, my jaw and my left arm and fingers on my left hand.
Curious that my problem in the pelvis is also on the left side... The thing is she seems to be of the impression that there is more tension on the right side but its the left that is taking the damage / pain.
I am now doing what is recomended by D Wise, relaxing the rest of the body and forgetting about the pelvis. If I can relax everything else it seems the pelvis follows along. Previously I had been concentrating on relaxing there but everything else had remained tense.
I have to say it isn't easy some times, especially on tough days at work. Yesterday I had a meeting in Madrid (I work / live in N Spain) so had to take a flight in the morning, go through the 4 hour long meeting, get to the airport, suffer a 3 hour delay, get the flight home, arrive at 2am in the morning tired and in a little pain. Once I got home I tried relaxing before going to be and my pain started to go, but I noticed I had been tensed up for a good part of the day.
