A little experiment that failed

Post by scoobysnacks »

So I thought I was making enough progress to stop taking my usual 2 any accredited quercetin product in the morning. Well by Thursday I was pretty much experiencing much more inflammation/irritation in my prostate or urethra, never really know which it truly is. It does tell me how effective the stuff really is though.

This was sort of depressing since I'm sick of paying for the stuff, but it means I've not progressed as far as I had hoped. Without the stuff the prostate is still inflamed. Ugh!

Oh well, I have a 10 day vacation coming up next Friday, so thats at least something positive to look forward to.

Regards,

Ss

I know what you mean...That's why I just figure that my any accredited quercetin product is just part of my supplement for long term. It could only help and it's cheeper than quercetin. I take 3 a day and I just got a 3 month supply and got a 20.00 dollar discount.

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Carl,

Maybe I should switch to the Quercetin. I dont know that I am that severe that I need the extra strength, its just one of those things, where if I do swithc and it doesnt work, Ill be annoyed that I spent the money.

Oh well, worth a try.

I think you should switch over, it has all the same ingredients for the most part as Quercetin. Just not as powerful. So take 3 a day 1 with each meal. Also and maybe it's a coincidence, but my recovery started to kick in shortly after I switched from any accredited quercetin product to Quercetin. I think for the people who have inflammation that is from tension more or less and not diet related have to stay on this stuff to manage the irritation we get as we deal with relaxing these muscles. It's a way to keep in line our bodies that are sometimes working against us. Almost like an autoimmune thing that keeps the prostate in a persistent state of inflammation. These supplements help reduce that state. Just a guess and a thought in passing here.

I'm guessing the most important ingredient is the Quercetin?

I'm a bit weary of taking Saw Palmetto since it alters hormone levels. It may keep prostate growth at bay but since I have no problem urinating I don't see the use really. Quercetin is another story: I took this a a supplement for months on end but without any noticeable effect on my symptoms.

Bit of a shame this after the length of time Scooby has been doing tP work. I think many more months will be needed perhaps for a fuller recovery as many men testify.

I have noticed though that more than one man has come back to the forum relatively quickly after completing the sP & getting better. The only reason for this I believe must be perpetuating factors that are'nt dealth with . SickofCP found the gluten link for example.

I dont take any accredited quercetin product / Q rol because I didn t want it to "mask" my recovery but I think I should. I'm certainly not advocating against it.

We have to rember though that many men have dealth with the inflammation - NoMOPain, Scotsman, Alprost, Tk, Twerges, Lightning
Tree and didn't / dont have to rely on a quercetin product to do so.

I agree I just hope that as a group we dont have to rely on such a product more than we thought. Evenmore than the SP? Dr Wise doesnt advocate taking these supplements for life but I think many of us just may do that. Then again many men who ahve recovered dont seem too!

My thought is if these supplements are proven to be of help for over all prostate health and we know bioflavenoids (spelling) is good for the body in general because of the antioxidant effects, then I will continue to use them.

I want to get off of the low dosage Elavil and uroxatral before I stop the supplements. We shall see...

What's important here are 2 things I think...

1. did you take the quercetin with something that will help it absorb in the gut like promalain or papain? ( spelling) So it's effectiveness is maximized :?:

2. My 1st urologist told me about a study in 2006 that came out in europe that showed that saw palmetto had no effects on the prostate, same effect as a placebo. Don't know if this is true and I just took his word for it. So saw palmetto to me is not effecting my recovery for the better. Just in my any accredited quercetin product and I don't think about it :?:

Hi Carl,

I just PM'ed you about this.
I'm taking a supplement that contains

500 mg quercetin, 20 mg bromelain, 20 mg papain

I take 2-3 caps/day

Saw Palmetto basically stops testosterone converting into DHT which is responsible for prostate growth and also hair loss. It works in the same fashion as finasteride which is the active substance of both Proscar and Propecia.
