Do not underestimate the damage of the chronic drinking. This causes extreme emotional highs and lows. At 1/2 bottle 5-6 nights a week for 10 years, I cannot imagine it has not had some deleterious effect.
To this day I think the root of my sensitivity is and was alcohol induced to some degree. Cutting down dramatically helped quite a bit.
In the short run its a relaxer, but in the long run it creates anxiety and chemical imbalance.

I am sure it has had a lot to do with my problems. I have cut down over the past year and am down to 1-2 glasses 1 or 2 nights a week. Tough to give it up entirely as I am a wine collector and it is my hobby and passion. I have given up beer entirely no problem and never drink liquor.
Funny thing is I mentioned it to all of my doctors thinking perhaps I had fried my nerves somehow but none of them seemed too concerned about it? My doctor has done tests for liver function and so far its still ok.
I do know my irritability and depression go up the day after any drinking. Reason enough to cut back or quit.
