My Progress To Date

Post by DJ Solution »

I am 39 yr old male and I have been suffering from chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome for about 4 yrs. My original symptoms were constant pain in my penis, perineum and scrotum (5-7 on a scale of 1-10) and sexual symptoms (ED/loss of sensitivity.) I had spasm in my abdominal muscles as well painful trigger points. After 3 months of PT (with a therapist who does internal work) I have mostly eliminated the penile pain and now I have perineal discomfort in the 2-3 range. I do not have any muscle spasms anymore. I do stretching and walking in addition to the PT. My question is about how my progress compares with others. I think that my progress indicates that I can still make more improvement although I seem to have hit a plateau and I havent seen any profound changes in a month or so. I have seen my sexual symptoms (ED/loss of sensitivity) get better since I started the program and I am looking forward to more improvements there as well. I am interested to hear any suggestions on additional modes of therapy that I can try. I am also curious to know if my progress lines up with other people's progress in terms of the time it has taken me to see improvement in my condition.

Thank you all for your input.

Hello DJ and welcome! When you say PT work done, is this also include internal PT? Have you had a pelvic floor exame done by a PT to see how this effects you? Have you tried any of the supplements like any accredited quercetin product from Quercetin supplier or Quercetin? Over all it seems like you are on the right path.

Before all this hit you, how well did you or do you handle stress? Were you are are you prone to anxiety or panic attacks? Do you have Lower Urinary tract symptoms like difficulty passing urine or poor stream etc?

Have you read A Headache in the Pelvis?

Regards, Carl

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Your progress seems about right. This will not happen overnight. I am 3.5 mos removed from the SP clinic and I make new discoveries, new progress on a biweekly basis it seems. That doesnt mean I havent had set back because I have. But, I continue to move forward. Progress with this is slow and imperceptable in weeks or days. You have to view from the monthly or bi monthly standpoint, and even possible year to year. I can tell you with each passing year I have been better than the year before, but my progress might have only been 10-20%. I hope to make a huge improvement this year while completely practicing the entire Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol to treat this nasty condition.

Regards,

Here are my responses to Carl's questions:

When you say PT work done, is this also include internal PT?
Yes, I am recieving internal work and evidently I do not have many trigger points internally.

Have you had a pelvic floor exame done by a PT to see how this effects you? I have but it is tough for me to tell you how this has affected me.
Have you tried any of the supplements like any accredited quercetin product from Quercetin suppliers or Quercetin? I havent but I am willing to try.

Before all this hit you, how well did you or do you handle stress? Not very well
Were you are are you prone to anxiety or panic attacks? Yes I have had panic/anxiety attacks. Right now I am experiencing anxiety about my condition but I am trying to view this as temporary so I dont fall into the abyss of depression.

Do you have Lower Urinary tract symptoms like difficulty passing urine or poor stream etc? I dont have difficulty but I have had issues with frequency. These symptoms have been getting better over time though and this is another good indicator as far as my progress.

Have you read A Headache in the Pelvis? I have and I think its a great source to draw from in terms of treating CPPS.

Thanks again for your input, I do appreciate it.

DJ! You are in the right place Brother...

OK, now today is the first day where you start to get your life back. Please really know and understand that you will slowly recover and be able to manage your life and most importantly, enjoy it. I know it's hard with the ups and downs. Soooooo, we have to address your anxiety issues and understand that you are a healthy Male and will live a long life. Problem is, you have this anxiety issue that has a HUGE impact on your symptoms you are experiencing. I'm not a doctor, but please look into the many options of safetly dealing with anxiety and having it under control so that the many great tools you are already aware of can help and further you along in this healing process. Know that I understand exactly how you are feeling right now. I have been there and still I'm learning how to deal with my anxiety/panic disorder. Hey man life isn't easy, but life can also be wonderful and it takes work. Starting with the mental and then continue on your path.

Sounds like you have some tight muscles in your pelvic area that are mainly caused by stress and anxiety, you will be fine if you learn to de-stress and manage your anxiety and talk to a doctor of mental health to identify what posible meds to take to help you along. Take care and keep in touch. Most of the Men in this forum have some sort of anxiety/panic issues with stress, so it attacks our pelvic area. Be well and try not to worry. I'm not a doctor, just a dude with CP/CPPS
