Still foggy on the condition itself but I think this article discusses elements of regenerative medicine that might help in neuropathic pain.

Is chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome pain neuropathic?
Age:37 | Onset Age: 35 | Symptoms: pain in testicles that comes and goes that also switches sides-trying to find a pattern as to "why" this happens/Rectal Burn at the 6 O'clock position at my anus which tends to flare around the periphery of my anus typically after defication but no perineum pain-no "golf ball" pain. Pain in testicles worsens as I sit but not always...Pain is not always present but depresses me. Pain used to be at a very high level but has subsided in time to a low level but has not gone away. Pain used to flare after sex but not as much as before although it still like playing russian roulette./
/Lack of SleepHelped By: I haven't found anything that has helped to my knowledge. Tried many many sessions of PT, accupuncture and chiropractic care but still have not found steady relief that takes me back to a pre CPPS state.

Yes, the pain we feel could be classified as neuropathic pain, but not the sort that is the result of some organic disease. Unfortunately, nerve-related disorders usually don't fully heal: take the RSI type injuries, which can be controlled and even cured but come back easily if provoked by repeating the bahavior that led to them in the first place. Once the bad pathways are burned into the nervous system, they can be re-opened again without too much trouble. The same principle even applies to mental problems, where constant thinking of depressive or negative thoughts predisposes to depression. Scientists have likened this to animals walking a path through an area of wilderness; once trodden, other animals are likely to follow it, thus making it more and more pronounced.

The article mentions Lyrica, which some posters here have found very helpful.

Here is quite a good Flash movie of how pregabalin (Lyrica) works.
