My Regimen -- Thought This Might be Helpful to Some

Post by scoobysnacks »

Thought Id share how I implement the SP on a daily basis, with great results so far. [I started ironing my clothes and packing my lunch in the evening to clear an extra 1/2 hr in morning]

Morning: arise 1hr or so earlier than I used to. [I've created another 1.5 hrs before going to work now]
1) Warm bath for 15 min (I incorporate skin rolling while soaking). This is the process whereby you break up the tight fascia on and around TPs. Fascia is that white filmy stuff that you might see if you have ever prepared chicken. It encases the muscle. Want a TP to release, need to stretch the fascia. Skin rolling is easy, but painful at first. Do a quick google, I'm sure you can get some pics.

2) External TP release. I work my abs with the Theracane holding each one for at least 30 seconds, then I milk them with the the Theracane. Milking is where you go perpendicular to the muscle fibers, do this 12 strokes each stroke 1 second. Then I do some stripping, less painful, this is where you go in the direction of the muscle fibers. Play with your muscles in TP areas and you will soon be able to tell which way the fibers run. For the butt I use a tennis ball that I place on the floor and hop on top of it. Yeah, I bet it looks ridiculous. But, this is the best way to get direct pressure and milk and strip back there IMO. I use it for the ones along my spinal erectors, too. Usually 10-20.

3) Stretch. I do all the stretches that are specifically designed to hit the muscles that contain TPs, so as to lengthen them immediately after releasing TPs. Usually do this for 10 mins.

4) Then paradoxical relaxation for 30 mins. I'm starting to look forward to this as I get better at it. I set a timer [just one of those kitchen timers] in case I fall asleep, dont want to miss work, or be running late. I have found an eye pillow is best for this, and the headphones with the tapes. I put one pillow under my head, one under the arm that I'm taking my pulse with, and one under my knees, get warm, and follow the instruction.

At night I go to gym to run/walk and re-do this all over again [usually cutting down the bath and stretching time so I spend some time with the wife, and sometimes do relaxation after she has went to bed]. However, it changes a bit in that after external TP work, and before stretching I do Internal massage. I have found it better to do internal work after external TP release, because although you are supposed to be relaxed when doing external TP release, I find that I have to push pretty damn hard causing my pelvis to be affected, so I would rather stretch it out using internal PT work after than before. Make sense?

At the office twice a day I shut the door and stretch for 5-10 mins.

My pain is down, the contraction before urinating is about gone, happens about once a day. I now have mild discomfort in rectum probably from all the PT, and sometimes hiccups [but not always] when I begin to urinate. But, LUTS inflammation is down, and I'm more optimistic than ever. Running at the gym is not causing me symptoms and I am using 20lbs dumbells to do a little weight work as Tim instructed, but keeping everything balanced, and following this regimen to a T.

I used to be a whistler. I found myself whistling again yesterday running errands. I usually hate errands, but its strange now when I'm feeling better, and know I can beat this, I get joy out of the smallest things.

In sum:

Morning; 1) bath/skin roll, 2) external TP work, 3) stretch, 4) relaxation
Night; 1) Gym, 2)bath/skin roll, 3) external TP work, 4) Internal TP work, 5) Stretch, 6) usually later before bed one more relaxation session.

I definitely feel on the right track.

Hope this helps in some way.

Regards,

SS
