Help with a symptom / Sarno

Post by GP2 »

Before I cover my main question I'd like to say that not for the first time I "told" my pain to go away when I was at an airport a few days back. I knew I was unconsciously worried about flying even though on the surface I enjoy it. The pain was about 7/10 & I focused on it for about a minute repeating my mantra for it to go & the brain not to deceive me. It went completely for hours.

I'm not following Sarno's treatment at all but dont people think its amazing somewhat that I can do this? and I'm not prone to exaggerate by the way!

Whilst some of us have focused on trapped emotions and pain as a diversion I dont see many men who have gone down this road as a part of their treatment plan. In many ways I think Sarno's book is glib and simplistic but lets face it he can't be all wrong? He has had a lot of success. I've heard it said that chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is different from back pain all together but is it? I've had back pain many times & its been as painful!

Plus Clair Davies / Travel & Simmons talk of the high prevalence of trigger points in back pain. So if Sarno's treatment is effective isn't this strange considering back pain sufferers apparently have no more or less trigger points than chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or other regional pain sufferers. My point is if the pain can be treated by Sarno's methods in one area of the body why not any area of the body? I know once trig points are formed chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome takes on a life of it s own but wouldn't most chronic back, shoulder, arm pain sufferers also have trigger points?

Digressing - my pain pain is burning testis / perineum. Can anyone advise on stretches / treatment that help this symptom. TP's in my stomach have been hard to find although my abs are very tight.

Thanks

Greg
