Updated edition of "A Headache in the Pelvis"

Post by webslave »

After discussing this new edition with Dr Wise, I really believe it's worthwhile for those of you who bought editions 1 or 2 to update to this new edition. It also has a lot of extra info missing from edition 3, so if you can afford the $29.95, go for it!

I called the number listed in webslave's link to order the book and Dr. Wise answered the call. It caught me off guard because I was just going to order the book and was not thinking that Dr. Wise would pick up my call. I have read that He does speak with people who call and have questions etc...He was very nice and answered my questions that I could think of.

I encourage anxiety prone UCPPS people to consider L-Theanine
Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

Got mine on Sat 12/02/06, just started going through it. So far the same as #3 except more on the anxiety connection and inflammation, success stories and female pelvic pain.

When I did a search for "prostatitis" on Amazon, A Headache in the Pelvis was the second listed book, although it should definitely be the first. If you have read the book, it would help to write a review (possibly anonymously). This will eventually help get it to first, where it belongs.
Started: Spring 2003; high urinary frequency and pain associated with bladder filling; urinary hesitancy; pubic/prostate/perineal discomfort; Helped by: trigger point therapy, Afrin nasal spray, Cymbalta, hydrocodone (small doses), distraction. Makes worse: sex.

Not medical advice. Consult your doctor.

I would hope that the next edition would update the stories, personal experience testaments section. Those stories of those who have suffered and then benefitted from treatment are the same in each edition, naturally calling into question how these individuals have fared over time. The nature of this affliction, with its waxing and waning, really requires this type of update for credibility.
Age: 43 | Onset Age: 17 | Symptoms: previously: constant urgency, premature ejaculation, burning at tip of penis, pelvic ache current: semi annual flares. | Helped By: PT, yoga, stretch, keeping warm(long johns) boxer briefs, regular sleep routine | Worsened By: cystoscopy, antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) alcohol, coffee, stress, masturbation, cold

Dr Wise wrote:Yes we are finishing up the 6th edition of A Headache in the Pelvis. Our distributor insisted on us identifying a date we would be done and of course we will be late in finishing the book by that date. The book will hopefully be out sometime late February or March.

I am also excited by the new book on Paradoxical Relaxation I have just finished. The full title of the book is "Paradoxical Relaxation: The theory and practice of dissolving anxiety by accepting it." This should be hopefully sometime in January. I will let you know about the release of these books when I have a more definite date.
