Confusion about the term "CP"

Post by DMB17 »

I was recently looking around on the internet about "Chronic Prostatitis". After reading some information and talking to my uro, I am confused about the term "Chronic Prostatitis". I have found several references which define "CP" as the most common form of prostatitis, usually caused by bacteria, and usually treatable with an extended amount of time on medication, usually 4-12 weeks. Now that is where the confusion comes in. The "CP" mentioned on this forum, seems to be something different than the Chronic Prostatitis mentioned by my uro and by internet sites. My uro believes this is a very curable condition, and a majority of people are symptom free a few months later. Is the fact that some people have different reactions to this condition, a result of different variations? Or is "CP" an umbrella term, used for different forms of a chronic (either weeks or years) prostate problem? Thank you.
