Could this supplement actually help us ?

Post by NoMoPain »

Hi Everyone,

I am always interested in supplements that could offer some potential for helping out with recovering from trigger points. I have found several good supplements to help reduce stress such as L-theanine, GABA, and St.Johns wort. Of course by reducing stress and relaxing more we are having both a positive mental and physical impact.

However, I have been pondering whether or not another supplement might be helpful for us in a more direct physical way. The supplement is called NO2 and is used for sports enhancement by increasing blood flow to the muscles. I asked my Physical Therapist about this and she thinks this may very well be good for people with pelvic or any other muscle issues.

Think about this - hot baths and hot showers feel good because they increase the blood flow to the muscles. It might be possible that this supplement could help with trigger points and restrictions in the same way- remember, more blood flow you can get to the muscles the better since vessels tend to be compressed by the tight muscles to begin with.

Well, anyways the thought of someday finding supplements to add to our arsenal is exciting. I long for the day when we can go to the Doctor for Laser removal of trigger points !!

Regards,
NoMopain.

NoMo,

I'm very familiar with the supplement. I took it along with creatine while bodybuilding, before this wretched condition hit me.

It does increase blood flow, and I can tell you I've experienced this by the muscle pumps, your muscles will look fuller on this stuff, and your erections will be harder. But, that is assuming you can get an erection on your own.

Whether it will help with trigger points, I'm not sure. There were times when I took it that I thought it was causing my pissing irritation to be worse. Course that was probably in my head, but it does make your piss a different odor, at least I thought so. This may or may not be combated with Prelief.

When I resume my lifting this will be a part of my arsenal, not sure how it would affect trigger point rehab, but it does truly increase blood flow, that I can confirm.

So, good products to try that actually contain what they say are Beverly Internationals Muscle Synergy and Scifits N02 product works well. Anything from Champion is good stuff, too. Stay away from EAS and Muscletech for sure.

Regards,

SS

I read somewhere doctors are doing a study to see if viagra will help for the same reasons, the results of that study would show if that helped either, I doubt it

When I take Cialis it completely removes my pain for 36 hours. After that pain returns. This obviously improves blood flow to the area. I have used NO2-like supplements in the past and nothing works like Cialis. However, my wife refuses to have sex with me if I take Cialis, Viagra, etc. It makes my heart pump/pound like crazy. What's a fellow to do now???

Hi GP2,

Life has been very good to me for a while now. The last 9 months I have been virtually symptom free. I cannot claim to be 100% yet but I would say about 95% of the time I feel 100%.

I am still working at my recovery though and am finding that I have to work just as hard on the mental part as I do on the physical part.

Thats good news. I know you talked about Byron Katie's work extensively. I have found a book - "the Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle that has been brilliant for me. It actually refers to some concepts I "found" myself in my mental fight against CPPS. The main one being that I have been using even before I read this book-

Think how POWERFUL it is that you only have to deal with pain one day at a time, one moment. It may sound glib to many but I say to myself every morning - I NEVER have to deal with yesterday's pain again. In fact every day for me is a new start. I dont give chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome more meaning by identifying it with time. I have chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome but only from this morning - the last 18 months are gone FOREVER. I apply the same concept to depression & anxiety when they occasionally raise their ugly heads.

When you say you are fighting the mental aspect just as much do you mean that you still hold a strong fear of CPPS?

Anyways,

Bye for now

Greg,

I would say yes to your question. As most of us on this site now know, Depression and Anxiety not only will tend to make the pain worse, but can double our suffering. The mind tries to trick us into thinking things are hopeless and there is plenty to be scared of.

For me a big part of the mental part of the recovery is to learn how to be at peace even during a flare up - much easier said than done. But most of us know that if we are relatively at peace and relaxed as opposed to stressed out and depressed, we will recover quicker and suffer less. I still have a long way to go with this part because sometimes I might feel 100% for months at a time and then a day comes along where I feel some mild symptoms and my mind tends to immediately default to the anxiety and depression state. To be at peace in the midst of a flare seems near impossible until I started doing the Byron Katie work on regular basis.

I certainly have not mastered this but I do feel more optimistic about making progress with it.
