Is time a factor?

Post by GP2 »

I am past worrying about my condition & whilst I know worrying about the future is futile, both brothers have shown indications of future chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome problems. I don't obviously want them to go through what I have so I am asking for your opinion on chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome duration & prognosis.

I have noticed that a good proportion of short(er) term suffers recover more quickly. Do you guys consider that generally there is a relation between length of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome (i.e considerable continuous symptoms) & length of recovery? I do personally believe that the shorter periods of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome may with the correct treatment plan see a decrease in symptoms at a quicker rate.

If my brothers are to suffer at some point in the future can I hinder the progression of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome quicker in some way by relaying knowledge to them now?

Would it be wise to counter the potential problem now by talking to them? I'm not so sure!

Much obliged

Greg

I wish I knew the answer to that, since I'm only a few months into this and would love to get through it faster.

I understand your concern for your brothers all too well. A few days ago I read the study in the News forum here from 05/2005 called "CPPS related to Spine Problems?" It found that we generally have diminished capability to spread our toes. Personally, I can't move any toe side to side at all. I saw my son this morning. He's in the prime age group like the rest of you and sits at a computer too much.

Me: "Hi kid, how you doing. Say, can you spread your toes?"

Him: "huh?"

Fortunately, he spreads really well and I don't think I have to worry about him, whew!

Have you been able to talk much to your brothers? Even at my advanced age where health has become the main topic of conversation, I find certain topics still difficult with other guys.
I am not a doctor too!
Age 64, sudden onset 5/06 during bout of flu, colitis, lung and liver problems. Pain in penis, then moved to rectum. No urinary symptoms. Use Lyrica, Elavil, paxil, Xanax, morphine, vicodin, relaxation, pads for sitting, 100+ PT sessions. Sensitive to gluten, milk protein, soy. I have CFS, anxiety, GERD, Barrett's, colitis, kidney stones, one of which referred pain to penis.
