I have been studying PT methods in the trigger point manual and I understand that Claire states the following;
1. Stretching tight muscles with trigger points in can be harmful.
2. Too much stretching & TP can be counter-productive.
I may have interpreted her wrong but I don think so. Trouble is this seems to contradict some information I have read on the forum.
Can anybody shed some light on these issues?

Him! :)
Bill said pretty much the same thing to me at the start of our sessions - muscles, like any organ, need time to heal. In addition he felt it best to check out my musculature before prescribing stretches to me.
That said, Bill is now comfortable for me to do some stretching and has given me two to do:-
a) The deep squat
b) One where you lie flat on your back with your legs up against the wall so you form an 'L' shape. You then move your legs apart as far as you can in a splits like manoeuvre.
Both once or twice a day hold for 30 seconds building up to a minute.

Yes of course Claire is a "him" - just a slip-up there. I have been reading the book honest!
Thanks - seeing Bill next week so I'll see what he says
