Best way by far is to use your fingers to stretch it. You don't need to insert your finger very far inside and then just gently pull - starting off at 12'clock and then go round the clock face in 15 min jumps (direction, not time spent!).

this is one of my major problem areas, which was confirmed by a test that tests the resting rate of the spincter muscles.
To stretch them has been a long process. Its tough at first becuase it was very tight, and I hadnt made any strides in changing my daily activities, I was an avid weighlifter before this all happened. So my first thing was to take a step back from my previous routine and slow down a bit and lessen the stress on the body. Then I went to a professional to get this looked at. She did a few sessions of internal massage, which would help for about 30 mins, then it would tighten again. So I began to do them on my own.
Scots advise is good. What I have also done is while sitting on the toilet, insert a finger in the rectum and go around clockwise and counterclockwise, like stirring the pot. I push down ever so slightly like I was having a bowel movement and this seems to allow the muscle to relax more. I then finish up with holds on the soar areas to try to relase the muscle, usually anywhere from 30 to 90 seconds and recommended for TP release.
I also found that in conjunction with this external massage of the perineum resulted in release of tight more external muscles. This is a daily routine, that seems to be yielding results.
Take it slow and methodical.

Scooby, have you ever experienced defecation problems? My chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome history started with an unexplained defecation difficulty that persists even today. That has lead me to think about some problem with the sphincter, which I surely contract too much.

Yep, good call, I've also tried it when sitting on the toilet and then reaching down between my legs and inserting a finger. I found you can get a lot of leverage that way so be careful.scoobysnacks wrote:..What I have also done is while sitting on the toilet, insert a finger in the rectum and go around clockwise and counterclockwise, like stirring the pot. Never experienced defecation problems that I can detect. Stools are usually normal size. I actually find that after I pass a stool I pee normal, which finally led me to realize my condition was largely related to a tight sphincter and the muscles around the sphincter as the stool would stretch the muscles out for the time being. Defecating does cause a little irritation in the muscles, but that seems to be a common side with CPPS. As well as irritation after orgasm, etc.jj77 wrote:Scooby, have you ever experienced defecation problems? But I have read where the sphincter is so tight that it creates very thin stools upon passage.
