I am a 28 year-old who was diagnosed with epididymitis in the left epididymis a year ago. I was then told that I had a varicocele in the left epididymis as well. In early December 2002 I had a varicocele embolization and a few weeks later began to get pains in my buttocks and down my legs. I also recently had trouble sleeping but this seems to have resolved itself (I now drink camomile tea before going to bed and swim a mile a day-this seems to help me sleep). I also have burning in my penis after urination and ejaculation. My urologist says that the embolization (a catheter was inserted into my left epididymis) may have led to prostitis and I am currently on a 28-day course of ciprofloxacin and am following the broccoli protocol at the same time. My question is, do these sound like symptoms of prostatitis and if so how can I get a more definite diagnosis. I should be very grateful for any advice as this thing is doing my bloody head in.

My non-medical opinion is that it's too early to tell what's going on in your case. Maybe you had an infection after the surgery, and the antibiotic will cure you. Or maybe you have had a local neuronal windup as a result of the surgery, and this will lead to CPPS, or resolve slowly over time. My advice: finish the antibiotics, then wait a few months and see. Oh, and it may help resolve the symptoms by taking Algonot or any accredited quercetin product (links in my signature) after the antibiotics are finished. Good luck!
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.
