Update on my flare.

Post by Rhemium »

I thought I owed it to the group to report back. As you recall, I had a pretty bad flare about 2 weeks ago. I'm happy to report that after about 7 days of misery/near-misery I got back to "normal" (which means my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome is nearly an unnoticeable annoyance). The "trick":

Time
One (1) prostate massage (which seemed to help with the burning immediately)
A bunch of hot baths
Donut cushion
Alleve

I believe the Benadryl flared me up. Being constipated didn't help. Lesson learned on the Benadryl.

So, thanks for listening. You guys in misery - take heed: I thought I'd be in misery forever. 2 1/2 years of god awful bad CP seems like forever. But it does get better for most if you do the right things and wait it out. This flare of mine was a painful reminder of "those days".
Age: 41. Onset: 28. Symptoms: perineum burn and urinary. Musts: donut cushion and stay unconstipated.

Can you describe how you massaged the prostate?
Age: 32 | Symptoms: Twingy pain/muscle spasms in groin area (gone), tingling sensation at tip of penis (has resolved as of now), urinary frequency (resolved as of now), thicker/decreased amount of semen (resolved as of now). Makes better: Stretching, Relaxing pelvic muscles, moment to moment relaxation, not sitting with legs crossed, Elavil, quercetin. Makes worse: Sitting, stress, more than one orgasm/day, constipation, manual labour

Massage

Post by Rhemium »

It was done by a physician with experience. It wasn't a drainage, mind you. Merely a stern massage. 15 seconds of agony. It gave me relief of that awful burn within an hour.

Massages have always helped me. Don't know why.

do benzos help? If they do I suspect your problem is muscular. If its muscular then the massage probably does no more than release tight muscles around the prostate. Just my thoughts...but if you are not helped in anyway by a benzo, then its probably not muscular.

The fact that "prostate" massages help men with this disorder has been discussed numerous times. It is impossible to mash the prostate without simultaneously affecting the adjacent levator ani muscles.

Benzos?

Post by Rhemium »

Refresh my memory please as to what those are.

I always attributed my "recovery" to:

1. Time
2. Massages
3. Donut cushion
4. Preventing constipation

You may be right - it may be muscular. I know my first huge flare was after a game of tennis. Who knows? What are benzos?
