Moment to moment

Post by texas2006 »

I'm headed to Sepastopol and I am sure that Dr. Wise will explain this in better terms, but how the HELL do you relax your pelvic floor? I mean, if it's like you are about to go to the bathroom and you stop just before, and do that upwards of 50-100 times a day, how do you not wet yourself?

Thanks.

The human body is designed to be able to relax the pelvic muscles including the sphincter and not urinate or have a bowel movement. I'm not sure how else to explain it.
Age: 32 | Symptoms: Twingy pain/muscle spasms in groin area (gone), tingling sensation at tip of penis (has resolved as of now), urinary frequency (resolved as of now), thicker/decreased amount of semen (resolved as of now). Makes better: Stretching, Relaxing pelvic muscles, moment to moment relaxation, not sitting with legs crossed, Elavil, quercetin. Makes worse: Sitting, stress, more than one orgasm/day, constipation, manual labour

I just try to make sure that my bladder is somewhat empty before I do it. But I know how you feel. Sometimes, I have to stop myself. And, at the risk of embarrassing myself, I'll just mention that I do some relaxation in the bath too. I go to the bathroom before I get in, but if I go just a little in the bath, I don't worry about it. It's more important to relax those muscles at this point, and learn how to keep them relaxed.

The moment to moment stuff has been very useful for me. It helps you recognize that you are tensing all the time, and is worth doing not only for your CPPS, but for anxiety and other tension as well.

How many times a day do you think that you do it?

I put a note on my computer monitor at work that says "RB". That stands for relaxation break. I take one whenever I notice it, which decreases over time because I forget it's there. When I was more symptomatic, I would do it every hour, and whenever I could remember on top of that.

I would typically take a few deep breaths, close my eyes, and drop the pelvis, and the abdomen, and stomach, and chest. That helped a little bit. It was actually more useful for me to control anxiety than it was for my CPPS, but I did it nonetheless.
