Hi all,
Bit of a kick in the teeth after a bad week last week when I didn't get a job I wanted. I notice that when I feel helpless to change things in my life - I've been in a job I've disliked for 3 years then I focus on my pain & that makes me feel more helpless. Maybe there's a link? I've looked into this extensively & often chronic pain can become more of a psychological condition then a physical one. Pain becomes a habit & so does the fear!
Anyway my brother called me from Spain last Saturday after being in severe pain for 2 days. He had heard bits of info about my condition but nowhere near the whole lot. and yes the symptoms were classic. I calmed him down basically saying there was nothing to worry about & luckily it passed (he may be lucky - for me & a lot of us that initial attack terrifies us & we get worse). I really do hope that the placebo effect works at least for a few months. I AM NOT prepared to watch my kid brother suffer with this thing like I have.
I'm thinking there must be a genetic component at work here. He actually got the attack on the same bank holiday weekend as I did in my 26th year!
Should I be worried guys - I mean there is a chance it could get worse lets be honest. I don't need that especially as we've just go a place together. maybe I'm just panicking I don't know!
I've told him that he has to control his stress levels & masturbate less (weird experience) & not tense his pelvic muscles. Last thing I wanna do is worry him. At least I can pass my knowledge on to him although its hard to think like that when I have my bad days!
Also - an honest response here guys- how much do you think we need to control the condition & how much do we need to accept it? I mean I've read a lot here on how it typically lingers for 2 - 5 years. I also read that for many men it passes with or without treatment in 2 years or so. Some men don't need physical therapy, some do need a few sessions & some are still practising PT after 2 years! I know this condition is idiosyncratic & we all need to pursue are own protocol. It just seems that time is a big factor also.
Personally I'm going down the psychotherapy route as my brothers & I were all disciplined severely when we were young (not beaten but the wooden implements were painful enough to have a lasting affect on my psyche). I may go to Bill Taylor in Scotland also but I'm looking at the psychological / childhood influences at the moment.
It really is the worlds longest, fastest roller-coaster ride!!
Thanks
Greg

I guess the answer to a lot of my questions are on the various pages on this site. I'm not gonna get carried away about my brother - after all most men have a prostatitis attack in their lifetime if he did get worse I'm here to help!
I'm also going to go down the mast cells / diet modification route. I've already cut out caffeine, I take vit B & calcium / magnesium as well as quercetin. My predominant symptom (90% of the time) is tingling in the testis. Consequently, I might focus on nerve pain / mast cells also as part of my repertoire.
Webslave / Mark, you found that diet modification helped scrotum pain right?
Apologies for a lot of gassing people (must be my Obsessive nature!!)

I never really had scrotum pain, just scrotum sensitivity, occasionally. But gluten avoidance did make a huge difference to me, along with de-stressing my life, changing my career, self-internal massage (using an implement) and Quercetin.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

What implement did you use? I'll try the diet approach also. Been de-stressing for some time now. Do you think its naive of me to try a few routes before going to a PT. Honestly, today for example my pain has been no-existent (sitting at work all day). I just don't feel that I should accept that my case is particularly bad until it gets that way (& it may not). I rarely feel spasms & tightness & I believe that I've go enough info to stop things getting worse.
Is it possible that my conditions is of a "lesser" variety than many mens who may be on the "4" on D Wise's scale?
Thanks Mark
