I've started playing video games recently and have noticed that I tense my pelvic muscles like crazy while playing. Breaking the habit seems really tough. What is the most efficient way to recondition this behavior?
Or is this something that even normal people do and that I won't be able to get rid of?

I notice the same thing, so I just don't play them. It's not worth it to me.
"Normal" people do it too I think, but for various reasons we are more sensitive to the consequences.

The only game I play these days that my system can cope with is http://www.lasersquadnemesis.com. I've been playing it for 3 years now and highly recommend it.

I gave up on games about 7 years ago. The last game I played (thanks to my son) that I considered vaguely pelvis-friendly was Descent 3

Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

This topic has been discussed a few times. I tense a lot playing games too, even when I try not too. Fortunately for me, my symptoms have more to do with sitting than they do with tensing, but I'm sure you can condition yourself over time to relax the body while playing. In fact, when trying to beat my best slalom score on Bode Miller Alpine Skiing 2006 Slalom Course #4 Expert Difficulty, I find my BEST times are when I am completely relaxed, and my hand moves the joystick ever so slightly. Ah well, I tense up when I play Chessmaster 10 too. Getting checkmated is never fun!

L0L!
F0r those of us l33ts who play 2 many gamzorz, the trick is to stop playing the games that ephas1ze constant TENSION until you can learn to identify and control it in your pelvis. THis will take a long time, probably a yearzor.
Here is the L33T walkthrough for gaming with CPPS:
And if anyone is interested we can then form the Pain in the Butt Clan.
p.s. A sign that a game is the wrong type of game to be playing for now is any game you cannot walk away from.

Here is the L33T walkthrough for gaming with CPPS:
- No FPS games, MMORPGs, HackNSlash, or RTSs until later. That means no Halo, no Battlefield, no Descent 56, no Age of Mythology, no EQ, DAOC, AO, FFXXXXI, UO, WoW, etc. UNDER ABSOLUTELY NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU TO PLAY THIEF, BIOSHOCK, SPLINTER CELL, or any EXTREME TENSION STEALTH GAMEZ!!!!
- Play turn based games. WHere you have as much time as you want to think and to relax. SOrry. You are now officially not L33T. PLay all of those hunt-for-the=pixel adventure games you used to laughzorz at.
- Later, when you actually know what pelvic tension feels like, AND can get 3 consecutive successive muscle relaxation stages out of every desired muscle (you will know what a stage of relaxation feels like when you are not a N00B anymore), then, MAYBE, you can go back to your old games. BUT YOU MUST be habituated into MOMENT TO MOMENT RELAXATION (Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol), and Be UBER at it before you can even consider this.
- If you experience increased pain after game playing, then you are still a N00B and must start over. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars. Sorry, mate. Back to the drawing board.
And if anyone is interested we can then form the Pain in the Butt Clan.

* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.
