A little while ago, my urinary frequency got so bad that I decided to just sit on the toilet and read a book there. Surprisingly, when I was on the toilet, my feeling of having to urinate went down significantly. It's as if allowing myself to urinate made me not have to. I then tried to sit at my desk with a urinal container (plastic bottle with a wide opening) between my legs. This helped just as much. Just by having a urinal there all the time I can reduce my frequency from around 35 times a day to 8!
Now I've got to figure out why this is. It must have some connection to my mind, since nothing is physically changing (I'm still sitting at my desk in the same position). These are my two hunches:
(a) This is mental. I have become so attuned to sensation in that area that even the slightest sensation is magnified immensely by my mind. Having a urinal between my legs gives me a feeling of comfort and reassurance.
(b) The reduction in symptoms comes from my bladder muscles being more relaxed. An acquaintance who knows about bladder conditions said that when one is ready to urinate, one's bladder is in a more relaxed state. She said I should consider taking an antispasmodic like hyoscyamine.
Does either of these sound like a full explanation? Any additional thoughts?
Very excited to have made some progress after so long!
Kevin
