I'm in the sometimes category. Often times if I doze off, but not fully asleep, I have this problem. I also get it almost every time if I rush through urination and don't wait the extra seconds until everything has cleared out.
This is NOT medical advice. I am NOT a doctor.

Age: 43 CPPS: 10+ Yrs Recovery Status: 80-85% Symptoms: Pain in testicles, scrotum, rectum, prostate, perineum Makes Worse: Anxiety, Tension, too much Nookie Makes Better: Stretching, Abdominal Massage (Go Theracane!), Relaxation

I think I have dribbled since I was about 20....maybe there is something to it as far as chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome goes....who knows
Age: 45 Onset: 43. | Symptoms: Tightness, spasms, burning and pain in the perineum. Occassional mild pain after urination in the perineum. Helped by: Cardura, quitting caffiene, relaxation, fiber, stand up workstation and some PT a year ago. Makes Worse: ANXIETY, ULTRAM, going to work, sitting or squatting too long, constipation (big problems), stress, and sometimes unexplainable.

sometimes I get this towards the end of peeing. that last 5-10% seems to dribble out or sometimes, I kinda squirt it out in waves. It's almost always worse when my bladder contraction is not strong due to.....well I don't know why sometimes I pee like a race horse and other times like an 80 year old man.....sometimes from one pee to another. I'm pretty sure an alpha blocker would really improve this for you though.....it certainly did for me for about a month. I just couldn't take the side effects.
Age:23 | Onset Age:22 | Symptoms:Urinary hesitancy, moderate frequency, urgency and retention, slight perinneum, rectal and leg pain, frequent abdominal/bladder pain. Red/white spotty irritation on penis | Helped By:hot baths or showers, walking and moving around, pain medications | Worsened By: sitting for a long time, holding urine too long. I'd say I'm about 75% better naturally so far.

In my case, there was a correlation between pain in the prostate region and dribbling. As that pain faded away, so did the dribbling. It was definitely annoying, but I learned to stay at the toilet for an extra minute or so, to compensate.

This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.

I still sometimes have this problem....even when I have a really good and powerful stream, I manage to dribble down my leg or on my pants in the crotch region so it looks as if I pissed myself. I'm used to it, which is why I find sitting down on the toilet much easier. I think a lot of guys pee on themselves though, even those without CPPS/prostatitis. My friend always sits down to pee because he says he's always missing the target.

I probably use more bog roll to wipe the toilet seat than my ass most days  went back to urologist who didn't think alpha blockers would help me.

Alpha blockers are a recognised (if not entirely effective) form of treatment for CP/CPPS. See if your GP (family doc) will let you try them).
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

the newer one works really well....Xatral its called. The problem is, for me, I had to stop taking it because it acted as a stimulant and my blood pressure/heart rate went through the roof like I had ingested a gram of cocaine. Obviously not good but it did help me pee normally for a few weeks when I was at my worst.

After 2 years of this illness I still drip sometimes. Sometimes I have split streams. In my first year I took alpha blockers, it ended up hellish as I ended up having urgency but could not pee.

what exactly causes a split urinary stream? I still get this, even when I have a really forceful pee! It's always present after ejaculation, but sometimes when I haven't done that for awhile, I still miss the target because its split. I don't see how it can happen.....a few days ago, I started peeing with good force behind it, one half went all over the floor to the right and the other half of the stream missed the toilet to the left. It reminded me of that movie with Jim Carey.....Me Myself and Irene.

split streams

Post by robertpagen »

I am curious what used to cause split streams too when I was symptomatic. They were maddening yet comical.
