I think that SSRI caused me prostatitis What do you think?
I started to have such problems after ejaculating when I was with paxil (you know with paxil is quite difficult to ejaculate)
The problem is that I left paxil, I have been left with the pain
Any you have this experience?

I did not have that experieince but I can say that the SSRIs are brutal on most men's sex life. Your right, if you can get it up at all, ejaculation is nearly impossible.....I gave up on them after trying Prozac, Paxil and Celexa. All of them had the same effects. And destroyed my sleep.
I can see how possibly a long period of trying to ejaculate and not achivieing it, and then finally being able to, while taking Paxil could set off muscle dysfunction.

I think if you are on SSRI's you have a pre existing psychological condition that eventually leads to CPPS.

I agree and the delayed ejac might have just been the last straw...In my case it was a bladder infection that got me going...and going and going

I think forced ejaculation can cause muscle dysfunction. I was not on SSRI but my chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome started when I forced delay ejaculation. Subsequently whenever I forced ejacuation I will have a flare up.

in the past I took zoloft which was helpful for the intense anxiety that I was experiencing with CPPS. It also did delay my ejaculation and hence prolong intercourse, which was probably rough on the pelvis but was quite pleasing to women. hehe. I am currently taking paxil and while I did not like it at first, the side effects seem to be wearing off and it has been helpful in reducing anxiety. With sex/ejaculation being one of the more painful activities for me, i've been abstaining as much as needed and havent been able to notice if the paxil is effecting my ability get an erection or ejaculate.

This is the most important point about Paxil, I think. in my personal experience, the side-effects can take several to six months to reduce to their sustained level. My sexual side effects, headache, and dry mouth typically reduced over the first six months (I've been on and off Paxil several times). Furthermore, as depression alleviates, doctors may back off your dosage to a lower, maintenance level at which side-effects are even less. Its important not to give up on an SSRI right away as the initial side effects are generally worse than the long term ones. There are exceptions, of course, but a doc can help with that.kpbos wrote: I am currently taking paxil and while I did not like it at first, the side effects seem to be wearing off and it has been helpful in reducing anxiety.
I also agree with Richie, in that I think, Pepe, that you are probably predisposed to the stress and tension that seems to be a common denominator in a high percentage of chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome cases. I would even go so far to suggest, as a layman, that you are doing yourself a disservice with respect to your chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome by avoiding medication that might help reduce your stress and anxiety. Just something to think about.
Once chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome starts, ejaculation and all the rest can be extremely painful, and I found that reducing sex was a big help while it was painful. In my case, it is no longer.
It took about a year for the muscles around the penis base to stop feeling swollen and hurting. It took another 6 months for an internal swelling and numb feeling to go away. Another year to rid all ejaculation pain, etc. Its a slow slow fix.
This is not medical advice, and I am NOT a doctor of medicine or a related field.
* Age:33 Onset: February 2004.
* 99.9% IMPROVEMENT in 2.5 Years with the first year being the really hard part
* Current Symptoms: Mild irritation of perineal muscles on occasion. Relieved for days at a time by a specific stretch (see below).
* Initial Symptoms: Terrible penile, urethral, rectal, and perineal burning/aching with addition afferent sensations.
* Current Treatments: Deep stretching of the legs and pelvis. Most effective: Deep psoas and levitar ani stretch using the first phase of the "pigeon pose" from Yoga. When a deep pulling is felt in the middle of the pelvis next to the upper rectum, symptoms are completely alleviated for several days.
* Past Treatments Hyperprotection of the perineum for 1.7 years, Walking, Rectal biofeedback, Stanford/Wise-Anderson Protocol, Conditioned deep relaxation practice, Men's Multi-Vitamin and an Extra B-complex pill, all seemed to help.
