Creatine can make Prostatitis worse

We've heard this before. Maybe it has something to do with its effect on neuromuscular conditions. Creatine can apparently cause modest increases in strength in people with a variety of neuromuscular disorders. This increase in muscle strength may make spasms worse.
Good News! The great ProstaQ is BACK at last! You must try it.

Creatine has a 'volumising' effect on skeletal muscle in that when muscle creatine concentration is increased due to a 'loading' period, the water content of the muscle has to increase to maintain the same intracellular osmolarity. (It's not uncomon for gains in weight of up to 6 pounds to be reported following supplementation - this is purely due to water retention).

If a person already has a tight pelvic floor full of trigger points, it may be that this increase in pressure, in tissue which is already chronically restricted, makes them even more symptomatic.

Interestingly, creatine supplementation should theoretically decrease the metabolic stress of a given amount of work for the pelvic floor (or any other muscle).

Age:39. Age at onset:31. Symptoms prior to treatment: Golf ball in rectum, severe urinary frequency (2-3x/hr; 5-10x/night); weak stream; painful ejaculation; coccygeal pain; tip of penis pain; general pelvic pain on left; testicular pain; supra-pubic pain. Current | Symptoms: Urinary frequency 1x every 2-3 hrs and 1-2 x a night; mild pelvic pain on left hand side (all symptoms still improving!)
Helped by: Trigger point release; avoiding exercise; pelvic floor relaxation; Neurontin decreased bladder sensitivity somewhat. Worsened by: Exercise; frequent ejaculation; ibuprofen irritates bladder. Made no difference: Diet; biofeedback; quercetin; Steroid anti-inflammatories; Elavil.

****UPDATE*** I am now able to sit again at work all day, and can perform moderate aerobic exersise again for the first time in 8 years!!!

Many moons ago when I was going to the gym on a regular basis I was taking creatine and noticed that every time I did, it would send me to the toilet.
Age 43: Onset June 2005, Initially: perineal pain, discomfort in penis, very sensitive, sometimes burning. Red around the urethra on penis. Increased urination during night, problems with stream, sometimes constant urge to urinate. Exercise and moving around and laying down helps. Sitting down and squatting makes it worse. Improved to about 85-95%. Symptoms usually mild pain near belly button and slight urge to urinate.

I've always theorized that people taking creatine were more likely to be hitting the weights extra hard to build muscle mass, and therefore possibly exacerbating pelvic tension problems just by virtue of being in the gym doing difficult exercises. It's interesting to see a chemical component too in this article.
This is NOT medical advice. I am NOT a doctor.

Age: 43 CPPS: 10+ Yrs Recovery Status: 80-85% Symptoms: Pain in testicles, scrotum, rectum, prostate, perineum Makes Worse: Anxiety, Tension, too much Nookie Makes Better: Stretching, Abdominal Massage (Go Theracane!), Relaxation

I still think that's the main reason.
