The Use of Cortisone

Any thoughts on the use of antibiotic injections and the use of cortisone to eliminate infected and inflamed acini of the prostate. I used to have bad acne as a teenager with large cyst like boils. My dermatologist used to give me cortisone injections into them and they would be gone the next day. Actually, I still have a few small lumps left under my skin from it but the inflammation "never" came back. I believe that with prostatitis, seminal vesiclitis and epydidimitis cortisone w/ antibiotics could be a great combo. Any ideas?

I got a shot of cortisone into my bloodstream last spring for my allergies. I felt quite good that summer. I can't say if it was because the cortisone or not.
It didn't cure me though, and cortisone has a lot of nasty side effects, so I wouldnt recommend trying it.

Someone that used to post to the newsgroup had that treatment done. He claimed that his pain got twice as bad and it ruined his life. He now has some nasty things to say about Guercini. Here is an extract from the newsgroup:

The first injection was made of xilocaina, gentamicina, bentelan, and was pain-less, as dr. Guercini told me. I didn't think of my prostate in the 2-3 days after the injection, but I noticed that my penis was very very quiescent: I didn't have an erection, even when I woke up in the morning or in the night. I alarmed myself when I realized, after 3 days, that I couldn't have an erection at all, and that I had a big lack of sentitivity in my penis, that was enourmosly contracted, so contracted to seem "hard". I phoned to dr. Guercini and I asked him what had happened, and he told me that it was all in my head... I told him that he should have to visit me again to see what had happened, and that I was not going to have an other injection before understanding my new simpthoms. He told me: if you don't want to have the second injection, don't come to Rome, come back when you'll feel better, when you'll have won your fear... Some days later a great pain in the perineum appared, so great that I couldn't walk.

Now, I have the same sympthoms of frequent urination (the urinary flow has become weaker), and, since the day of the injection (about ten months ago) , I have erectile dysfunction, lack of sensitivity in my penis, and pain in the perineum. Other uros visited me, and noticed a very inflamed prostate, but they can't explain the lack of sensitivity. They are very concerned about me, and they can't say if the injection has increased an existing infection/inflammation, or if something has been damaged by the injection itself. I'm going to do some further examinations to understand better my situation.

So, I recommend all the prostatitis sufferers: DON'T TRY THIS DANGEROUS THERAPY! DON'T TRUST ANYONE WHO PROMISE YOU SOMETHING THAT OTHERS UROS CAN'T PROMISE.

One more thing. I'm not a doctor, I can't offer medical advice, and I know nothing about your case. But how do you know you have a bacterial infection with inflamed acini? That sounds strangely similar to a discredited theory regarding chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome that used to circulate a few years back. Have you been diagnosed with chronic bacterial prostatitis by a urologist?
